We came for the views and stayed for the drinks. When I called ahead to Cliff House to put our name on the list, they said there would be an hour wait and they didn't take call aheads. What they didn't mention was that the bistro bar area and adjoining bar tables (about 8 small tables that can fit 2-3 people) were first come first serve. So we ended up getting a table right away and were able to order drinks and apps, but no food at those tables. I loved the Belissima, a fancy take on the Mimosa, and tried a friend's delicious and not too overly sweet mojito. We also had a half dozen oysters on the half shell, crab and clam chowder. The crab and clam chowder weren't anything to write home about, but I was seriously impressed by the oysters - they were some big suckers! This was a nice place to hangout for a drink and some snacks as we watched the waves crash around us, but because of it's location and high volume of tourists, it's quite overrated.

I came for the views and went back for the popovers. when you go to the upstairs and have brunch, they bring out a basket of warm, flaky goodness. It's like a combination of a croissant with the texture of a crepe. Odds are, it will be the best thing you put in your mouth that day.

The Cliff House offers beautiful views and a fancy experience. I've enjoyed Sunday Brunch, which was well worth the special occasion I was there to celebrate. Before after the meal, you can walked down to the beach, or over to the Sutro Bath Ruins. Caution for those of you unfamiliar with San Francisco weather and expecting a lovely sunny afternoon: The fog can roll in and cover the beautiful views and chill an otherwise warm beach experience. :)

If the weather is nice, than stop here and enjoy the views of the beach! The 1/2 dozen oysters are a nice compliment with a glass of wine. Sit at the bar and enjoy the ambiance. Bloody Mary's are pretty good and they always have the hometown brew Anchor Steam!

Best place to sip a glass of bourbon, Listen to live piano and enjoy the sunset as the waves crash over the rocks.

Good food, but a little pricy for me. It's a good treat once in awhile for a special occasion. If you do eat here, try and get a seat by the window so you can see the ocean. It's right next to ocean beach so you can take a nice walk after your meal. The service is always really good here. Everyone is super friendly and helpful.
