Untitled, 20"x16", Oil on canvas
(original art by Fernando Vicente)

This is my first oil painting. I have painted before using acrylics, but was inspired when I found Mark Carder's videos on YouTube.

So, to get started I found this artwork created by Fernando Vicente to use as a practice canvas with these objectives:
- Paint with oils!
- Follow Mark's guidance, especially painting with the darker colors first and mixing my own colors
- Use a limited color palette (Permanent Red, Ultramarine Blue, Medium Yellow, Burnt Umber and Titanium White)
- Use a wet-on-wet technique
- Make and use a proportional divider

I'm very happy with the results and hope this painting is inspiring to someone to also create some art and put it out into the world!

Thank you to:
Mark's very well done instructional videos: http://www.drawmixpaint.com/ Fernando's outstanding artwork: http://www.fernandovicente.es/en/

The GAIA telescope has been mapping stars in the Milky Way with unprecedented quality and quantities. It has been assembling the most detailed 3D map ever made of our Milky Way galaxy and has currently mapped over 1 billion stars. There are already hints that the Milky Way may be shaped differently from what we thought.

Memorable new record: Made the fourth trick-or-treater of the night cry! The rest of them enjoyed the setup and had big smiles. Several parents complimented us on having the best house of the night.
