I participated in a retreat at the Glen Cove Mansion and had a good time there. Although I was there when it was still covered by snow and ice, the scenery was pleasant and a great place to get away from the city. The staff were mostly helpful and courteous. The gym and pool were unattended while I was there, which meant I couldn't access the lockers or turn on the Jacuzzi. The bar is a cool place to hang out after hours, but the beer was overpriced and the Karaoke machine didn't work properly. The food was ok.

Was there for a wedding reception. These are facts, not opinions: booked king size bed; got two full size beds. Asked for King and they said none available. Friend checked in 3 hours later and received King bedroom. in our room heat didn't work. they sent a repairman; then TV remote wouldn't work...checked for batteries and found they were reversed, so remote would not work. then tried ipod player and it wouldn't work. found it had no power cord. Desk sent up power cord. Room hallways smelled like mildew; carpets were stained. Heat in room inconsistant; wall thermostat didn't work, but worked the next day. Would not stay there again.

message on their website "contact us" form. Good Afternoon, I feel the need to voice a concern over the stay in which my girlfriend and I spent at Glen Cove Mansion last weekend. I purchased a Living Social deal for a one night stay, made a reservation, called to confirm 2 times, and arrived early in order to ensure an enjoyable stay and take full advantage of what was not an inexpensive trip, even with the deal. Upon arrival, we were informed that "Guaranteed Check-in is not until 4pm, at which point the rooms will have been serviced and your King will be available." We come back from the pool at 3:55 and I show my living social deal because the original person we spoke with did not get my name right (regardless of the fact i had spelled it each time) until the third try. Immediately after seeing my deal, i was informed that "there are no king size beds available. We also do not have any queen size beds at this time. The only thing we can offer you is two full size beds." We hesitantly accepted (what were we going to do? cancel the reservation and drive back to the city and try to work around the very limited number of weekends available for the deal July-August, minus july 3-7, 14-18, etc). Upon entering the building in which our room was, we smelled a very strong odor of orange cleaner of some kind. As the weekend progressed, it was apparent that this smell was masking the smell of urine and was so bad that we felt nauseous walking down our hall. Luckily that was confined to the hallway and our room with two full beds (romantic!) did not smell. The service at the pool was terrible. During our time at the pool, we were informed that they were "bringing more towels out now." We sundried for 2 hours before leaving the pool area, with no towels in the vicinity. And, lastly, upon checkout, we were informed that we were to pay taxes for our room, which "were pre-paid by living social, but must be paid by the guest upon the conclusion of their stay." What a trip! I will never return and will attempt to persuade anyone interested in Glen Cove Mansion from ever spending their hard earned money of valuable vacation time there.

In a word? Disgusting! DO NOT STAY HERE. It is so deceptive you think you are staying in a mansion for a romantic weekend. You're not. You're staying in a MOTEL in the back of a mansion. I will say the grounds are beautiful but thats it. Service wise RUDE. Thankfully we only stayed one night and they were fine about us not staying the second night... I'm sure it happens A LOT so they didn't blame us for wanting to get the heck out of there. Again DO NOT STAY HERE. They can show you the nicest pics but its all a lie you won't be staying in a mansion.....
