Original Work "Jedi Wanders the Empty Desert Night"

The great Jedi wanders the desert with his trusty lightsaber...
...although in this case the "Jedi" is just me pottering about, and the "lightsaber" is a cheap toy that I borrowed from my son (who viewed me with great suspicion).  No, I'm not a big Star Wars fan, but others have told me that May the 4th was an auspicious event and I thought a toy lightsaber would make some interesting light play for my night photography.  The shots were taken on the sand dunes near Cervantes, Western Australia.  The "southern" part of the milky way is visible here, with the Alpha and Beta Centauri shining brightly, shadowed by the dark coal sack nebula, and the slight splash of pink being the mighty Carina nebula.

This is a composition of two shots - one for the sky and one for the foreground, both taken immediately one after the other through a 14mm F2.8 prime lens.  The foreground took a bit of work, as I had to set the camera on a timer, run up the dune (not an easy feat), and strike a "dramatic" pose in time for the shutter.  Anyhow, first time I ran up I was too far out to one side of the shot, the second time I ran too far and only my head was visible, and the third time I didn't even make it to the top - as my foot sunk in the sand and I plowed into the side of the dune.  Not the legendary shot I was after - the mighty Jedi face planted into the side of a sand dune, lightsaber slowly rolling down the slope.

Anyhow, shots were combined in photoshop.  Unfortunately, I just couldn't get the airglow around the lightsaber took look natural (without faking it that is - which I don't do in any of my photos).  The problem is the airglow shows up in the foreground, but it is against the sky which is in the other shot.  Maybe someone who knows photoshop better than me can make some suggestions...

Enjoy, Will.

It's game time for net neutrality. Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler is proposing new rules to protect the internet, recommending that telecom companies be treated like a public utility and thus overseen by the government. This is a blow to big cable and the push to create a tiered system of internet delivery.

When this RC plane crashes you'd never expect the camera to still be rolling and capture amazing underwater scenes.

Guys anyone of you saw this?
http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/10-great-new-features-in-windows-10-1267365
I kinda missed it because I just don't want to read about money-grabbing idiots and trolls from Microsoft, or as some call them with real name micro$hit :)

I mean this is so duh...
Wtf they change the possibility to paste to command prompt, come on guys don't be a fan boys Unix had that from '70 and Linux from the beginning. I mean that is what they call improvement?

Or yeah and do not forget StartMenu is back? Wtf! So what? On Linux you have 10's of DE to choose from, much more WM's and all of them have normal start menu's some with search some with organized tree capabilities and some with combined search and tree. So you have more than 15 different StartMenus on Linux.

But come on people that and whole desktop is just a cosmetics, there is nothing crucial or important in that.
If there are any big new news accept possibility of adding repo actually a command line tool for installing, and I think that was also just a rumour because I can't find a confirmation for that except for updating the windows itself from it.

They don't even want to retire their idiotic Internet Explorer which is the single worst product ever made in Computer Science history.
Yeah they introduce some lightweight browser called Spartan but they restrict it and only pushes to phones, for whom they haven't yet even release the windows version.
Yeah they have some new assistant, but that is also probably combined and made with many of the stolen code from plenty of other companies whom have made already voice assistants, like goggle or apple and may smaller companies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cOk5AeFyqo

So I mean lol. come on guys this is ridiculous. I already said microsoft will die till the 2016 as it should, because it will lose market, as they don't have nothing new to offer, except to still technology and ideas from other people, FLOSS community and many of Linux and other OSS developers who release their code under GPL.

So I mean is it really possible that there a so much of stupid people around the world?
What does it really takes to say and explain to people that the |time of Windblows is gone" and that "In the world without windows who needs Gates".
I mean for them to understand that there are much better alternatives out there.
I think that it takes marketing, and a good marketing approach. I think we should support or even help a create strategy which some of entry level distros will follow, e.g. Ubuntu Mint Elementary.
And to all of as when it is about Linux stop to wage wars against each other which distro is the best or better, or whose users are lame etc.
It have come the time to unite our strength and knowledge and try to spread the word about Linux and its various capabilities as much as we can.
Also we should focus for new users that come from other platforms like windows, on easiness of install process on some distro's. Performances shown in real time, via youtube videos anything like that.

I think it is time for waking up more than ever, because most of the windows users now know that they don't have nothing new from windows, and also that there is a full support for all sort of devices any new or old in Linux kernel so there will be no problems for users to use it.

Guys/girls, all of the Linux users and fans, wake up. Its not just about things like "hey I use Linux I use it and I'm good at it. I try to learn new stuff, and I don't care for people that use M$ Windows" or "Oh yeah I'm a teach CLI guru I don't want to spend time on converting people".

We don't want to convert anyone forcefully, like some other OSes, we just want to spread a word about our beautiful Operating System called Linux which can be as user friendly as anyone would like, or on other hand as 31337 as any shell guru would like.

Its all about choice, and Linux give all the choice and all the power, privacy tools, all the UI and user friendliness, and all the strong security methods and possibilities for all those security and command line guru's.
So it all comes down to you Neo/Newbie,
Will you take the Red pill or Blue pill
Will you choose freedom of the Red pill or you will stay in BSOD Blue pill land :)
Actually if you speak about visual experience its other way around, when you choose Red pill you are in Linux wonderland where all the good things happen.
Term Newbie is not meant in any derogative way its just a way tech people call people that are beginners in the working with technology they are experts in.
No matter what you can read in wikipedia about this term, in Linux circles at least in those I move, term Newbie is mostly spell and meant as the NewBee, or someone who is eager to work or in this case learn new things and be marvellous like a bee :)
