G'Day Folks

My latest article/essay, FYI. Circulate as you see fit. Best, GM.

Brief: With all the talk about a third world war, it isn’t just instructive but essential to understand the real origins and causes of the first two. Like the proposition it was Germany’s imperial ambition that kindled the First World War in 1914, the notion that the rise of Adolf Hitler was an aberrant manifestation of the economic, social, and political chaos prevailing in post-War Germany is one we still teach our kids in school, and embrace without question in our public discourse. Both of these doctrines—to this day perpetuated by the custodians of the historical record on behalf of the Anglo-American-Zionist establishment—are the most enduring deceits and existentially dangerous delusions infecting the Western body politic. There seems no better time to begin appreciating the implications for humanity of preserving them. To underscore this, it’s sufficient to grasp that the power elite mindsets, societal developments, economic conditions, and the broad geopolitical goals and objectives that marked the prelude to these cataclysmic events uncannily parallel so many of those unfolding now. As we will see, this is not simply a matter of history tripping over itself once again!

Intro: ‘By way of a fitting entrée into the main course of our narrative, the following anecdotes should serve us well. In his myth-shattering 2006 tome Conjuring Hitler: How Britain and America Created the Third Reich, Guido Preparata recounts the occasion when Joachim von Ribbentrop, later to become Germany’s U.K. ambassador and then her foreign minister, travelled to Britain in May 1935 to ‘negotiate’ of all things, German naval rearmament ratios with the stewards of the Empire. During his trip the then military attaché of the Japanese embassy in London, Captain Arata Oka, bent the ear of the former champagne salesman cum Nazi diplomat with this sage advice: “…Never forget….the British are the most cunning people on earth, and that they graduated to absolute masters in the art of negotiation as well as in that of manipulating the press and public opinion.”

As history tells it, neither Ribbentrop nor his beloved Führer Adolf Hitler fully appreciated the history behind Oka’s counsel or its implications.

And in what will doubtless resonate with folks critical of the present state of the world banking and financial sector and its amoral alchemists, on another occasion the following exchange took place between an unnamed American banker/financier and the then President of the Reichsbank Hjalmar Schacht, the Nazi’s banker and for a time the Third Reich’s ‘economic Führer’. In this most telling of historical tête-à-têtes, the American snootily suggested to the financial guru—one of three men pivotal to the Wirtschaftswunder, the fabled German economic miracle that enabled it to revitalize its economy after the turmoil of the Weimar era and the devastation of the Great Depression, and from there rebuild its formidable war machine—that he (Schacht) ‘…should come to America. We’ve lots of money, and that’s real banking.’ Not to be upstaged, in a priceless (and for some, possibly rare), moment of Teutonic Drolligkeit, Schacht reportedly countered with this: "[No] You should come to Berlin. We don’t have any money. Now that’s real banking."'....Read on….

G'Day Folks,

SUBJECT: My Latest Diatribe from the Outer Reaches of the Imperial Universe -- With Friends Like These (Who Needs Allies?)

The Brief: By and large, the Australian-U.S. alliance is considered by the majority of people on both sides of the Pacific Pond to be mutually beneficial, indeed essential. But behind this pact, like as with so many countries with economic, strategic and/or military ties to the empire du jour, there is a downside, one rarely acknowledged — and when it is, often rejected — in public or media discourse. More Australians though are beginning to question its value, a mindset reinforced in no small measure by the increasingly heavy-handed influence the U.S. seeks to exert in global affairs, exemplified as much by its well-documented interference in the affairs of other countries and its propensity for imposing its frequently self-serving economic and strategic agenda on the international community. Along with examining why Australia might benefit from re-assessing the oft-presumed benefits of this partnership, and from there, seeking a more independent pathway, we will also reveal some of the past history of this complex, and for the U.S. in the ongoing pursuit of its hegemonic ambition, sure to be a increasingly vital, geopolitical partnership.

Extract: '....for the first time in Australia’s history, we are facing a geopolitical and national security dilemma of considerable magnitude: Our long-time major business and trading (or economic) partner China – an which has contributed enormously to our country’s stellar economic performance over the past two decades or more and which played no small part in enabling us in ways the U.S. itself wasn’t able to, [to] weather the fallout from the Global Financial Crisis (itself largely the consequence of the monumental recklessness of America’s multi-national corporate and financial behemoths, fortified by the enduring subservience and acquiescence of its political, legislative and regulatory elites — is now being challenged directly and no less recklessly and provocatively by our long-time military and security (or strategic) partner the U.S....in the words of a former Prime Minister "Our great and powerful friend"'.

G'Day Folks, My Latest Article. Published now on The Greanville Post.

Extract: "Most folks then who don’t dine out on the McDonald’s (‘would you like lies with that?’) media diet that is the corporate news are as well aware of Uncle Sam’s recidivistic predisposition towards meddling in the affairs of other nations, engineering coups and colour revolutions, and ousting democratically elected leaders as they are of the bespoke misinformation and disinformation – the ‘real’ fake news – that’s tailored to suit the official narrative that goes with it. Along with the ongoing Syrian War, the 2014 Ukraine coup is one of the most egregious, more recent examples of this, with again Stone’s meet ‘n greet with Putin providing an alternative perspective on both counts. Yet even here the majority of Americans would attribute the Ukraine crisis to “Russian aggression” and the Syrian War largely to Bashir Assad’s 'despotism'; it’s simply what they are told by the MSM, and insofar as they’re concerned [they] have little reason to doubt this. Much the same goes for the Iran WMD narrative, despite the fact that we’ve heard that one before with Iraq around fifteen years ago.

And all of this mayhem and chaos is premised on exporting justice, freedom, democracy, liberty, human rights, and the rule of law, all of the things that America is purportedly so accomplished in embracing on the home front, albeit more so in the breach than in the observance as they say. What makes America’s transgressions so much more brazen in this respect is the hypocritical, fraudulent and existentially dangerous nature of the umbrage and pique being directed towards countries like Iran, Syria and, especially Russia and China. And what makes the righteous animus being served up to the latter nations in particular so frightening and so portentous is that it’s wholly reminiscent of the hegemonic mindset directed towards Germany by the high-minded mandarins of the British Empire in the two decades leading up to the War to End all Wars. By 1914, even for that small cohort of folks who might’ve smelt the imperial rat, it was too late of course, for them and for so many others. In this few other imperially motivated gambits have been more consequential or more far-reaching across time and space, a conclusion we can safely draw with all the benefit one hundred plus years of hindsight brings.".....

Folks, From Naomi Klein. Though President Donald Trump now occupies the most powerful office in the world, author and activst Naomi Klein argues there's nothing inevitable about what comes next. "A major crisis could redraw the political map overnight," she warns, "giving Trump and his crew free rein to ram through their most extreme ideas."

However, she adds, such "tactics can be resisted" so long as people learn to recognize them and respond appropriately. She writes: The administration is creating chaos. Daily. Of course many of the scandals are the result of the president’s ignorance and blunders – not some nefarious strategy. But there is also no doubt that some savvy people around Trump are using the daily shocks as cover to advance wildly pro-corporate policies that bear little resemblance to what Trump pledged on the campaign trail.

And the worst part? This is likely just the warm up.

G'Day Folks, This just in from Miko Peled. This is the first of two recently published pieces. Here's the introduction to the first.

#Palestine #Israel #Apartheid #Zionism #OccupiedTerritories #EthnicCleansing #Oppression #HumanRightsAbuse

"One of the most disturbing aspects about the reality in Palestine is its normalcy. It's become normal to see Palestinians shot and killed, even children. The faces of young Palestinians showing up daily on social media, boys and girls shot by soldiers, accused falsely of attempting to stab a soldier. It has become normal to see Israeli soldiers shooting skunk water and tear gas, and snipers using live ammunition at unarmed protesters who want the land that was once theirs and the freedom they never had.

And it has become normal for us to engage in the endless, fruitless debate on whether Palestinians throwing stones at armed Israeli soldiers who invade their homes constitutes violence, or whether or not Zionism – which produced this violence – is a racist ideology. And all the while the suffering and the oppression of millions of Palestinians go on almost uninterrupted.

G'day Folks, My recent extensive analysis and commentary on the USS Liberty and the Six-Day War, and the backstory therein has just been published by The Greanville Post. From the get-go taking my cue from Phil Nelson's excellent Remembering the Liberty: Almost Sunk by Treason on the High Seas, this is in two parts, with part two to be posted next. Here's a brief taster/summary

"Along with reexamining the less well-known origins and causes of the Six-Day War itself, it is another event during that war with which we’re concerned at this point. That event occurred on June 8, the fourth day of the SDW, when a U.S. naval reconnaissance ship the USS Liberty, operating in the Mediterranean Sea, was deliberately attacked by Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). Put another way, we cannot examine the Liberty incident without a similar focus on the overarching event in which it occurred, nor could we look at the SDW without discussion of the Liberty attack. And most importantly in this case, we cannot then view these events together or separately, without affording even more attention to the principal ‘mastermind’ behind both of them, one Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ), the 36th president of the United States."

Remember the Liberty!

http://dcdave.com/article5/170608.htm

G'Day Folks, Dave Martin (aka DCDave) has written an absolute cracker of a review on Phil Nelson's just released book Remember the Liberty!: Almost Sunk by Treason on the High Seas. RTL, whilst ostensibly about the attempted sinking of the USS Liberty on June 8 and the real backstory surrounding this attack, is as I've noted elswhere in my own commentary on the events covered in this important book, is much, much more than that. Like I've attempted to do myself, Mr Martin's analysis provides a context and perspective all but entirely missing from mainstream -- and I'd argue, based on what I've seen thus far in alternative media commentary as well -- in this the 50th anniversary year of those momentous events.

In particular, it is president Lyndon Baines Johnson's (LBJ) and then Defense Secretary Robert McNamara's role in the events of the Liberty and the subsequent coverup, along with those of the Six-Day War in which it took place -- virtually all of which has been whitewashed from the official record, excluded from the history curriculum, and avoided like the Ebola virus by all and sundry in contemporary public, political and media discourse -- that Mr Martin brings to the fore here. You know, a "what did the president know, and when did he know it?" kinda thing. This is of course how it should be. As someone who's lived, breathed and bunked down with this story for almost three months now and written my own extensive analysis and commentary on the events that took place between June 5-10, 1967 (all the while taking my cue from Nelson's book and all now published), I can say Mr Martin has captured the essence of the narrative with the right measure of perceptive insight and righteous indignation. Dave as we might opine here Down Under old son, "your blood's worth bottlin' mate!" That's v high praise indeed in the local vernacular!! Whether it counts for much Stateside is of course another matter altogether. GM

"Most Americans have never heard of the Israeli, Ephraim “Eppie” Evron. A half century ago, in May of 1967, he was deputy chief of mission in the Israeli embassy in Washington and in that ostensible capacity had a meeting with President Lyndon Johnson in the Oval Office on May 26. From all indications, as we learn from Phil Nelson in Remember the Liberty!: Almost Sunk by Treason on the High Seas, Evron was likely the real power in the embassy as the top Mossad official there. An even more interesting thing about Evron was that he was “one of the main conspirators” in the infamous Lavon Affair, a failed plot in 1954 by Israel to bomb U.S. and British facilities in Egypt and pin it on Arab extremists. (In 2005 the Israeli government outrageously honored nine of its agents involved in that episode.) Thanks to America’s Israel-first press, the appalling, treacherous Lavon Affair is no doubt as little known to Americans as is Eppie Evron.

Thirteen days after that meeting, on June 8, 1967, on the fourth day of Israel’s highly successful Six-Day War with its Arab neighbors, after hours of aerial surveillance, Israel would launch a murderous, multi-staged assault on the American intelligence ship, the USS Liberty. The identity of the ship was as unmistakable as if it had been the Statue of Liberty. It was bristling with antennas, it flew a large American flag, and its name was clearly painted on its stern. The 4-foot high identification numbers on either side of the bow were in Latin writing, GTR-5, not in Arabic. The weather and visibility were perfect." Read on.....
