This place is NUTS! I stopped by today 4/1 to see if they had wi fi so I could invite my boss Sandra Annette Bullock over for a brew and the bartender told me that to use the wi-fi I had to sample a beer made from taffy and ham. WTF! I exclaimed and decided to flip a tuit to see if the Information Technology gods or VI Kings from io would favor such a quest. Well needless to say the coin landed on some silly putty and made an impression of my Maharanee to savor.

9 hour drive for a show and looked for a good bar.....this place is it! If you love a strong spirit and know your drinks this place is for you, if you don't they will make a suggestion for you.

I drove from College Station to see if it really lived up to the hype. I first heard about them through a Yahoo! article about some of the most interesting cocktails in America. A friend and I went in, and we were greeted by a friendly bartender. He was knowledgeable. He knew what he was talking about. He knew how to make the Zombie I ordered. The thing that got to me? The drink itself was $12, and I left a $6 tip. No thank you. He just grabbed it, and didn't look at me. Being a bartender and a server, I always consider myself to have good etiquette towards my guests. If I worked at Anvil, I would at the very least thank the guest for coming in, even if the tip wasn't great. That's what you can at least get with the high drink prices since the atmosphere and decor leave something to be desired. I came in around dinner time on a Monday, and I got a big yuppie feel about the crowd. It's not really my crowd. It wasn't by any means crowded, so it's not as if he was too busy to say a simple thank you before he moved on. I'm willing to pay higher prices for a cocktail, but the atmosphere and the service has to definitely make up for it.

With a name like Anvil I expected something a little more hard core. They need to change the name to rubber mallet. Its a place for preppy hipsters and it blows.

Great drinks but absolutely slammed on the weekends. The bartenders don't play around here and they have an eclectic selection of Whisky.

Quaint little spot with interesting drink selection. A good spot to try a few new things.
