My latest NYC indie music column does it live, as I cover five acts I've recently seen in concert.
I'm always encouraging people to go out and see live music. With that in mind, I decided to dedicate this week's NYC Scene Report to some of the acts I've recently seen live in the city. This includes rock bands theSHIFT, and Station, singer-songwriter pop artist Stef Lang, and hip-hop acts ...

In a band hitting the road? My latest Sonicbids column lets you know what you DON'T need to take with you.
If you're heading out on your first tour, learn from these musicians' mistakes and resist the temptation to bring too much of these three items. Your bandmates (and back) will thank you.

Album Premiere: Check out Chaser Eight's new acoustic EP, Naked, in full at Adam's World! #acoustic #rockmusic #premiere
When I first saw CT hard rockers Chaser Eight they blew me away with an ass kicking performance that was absolutely fearless. Lead singer, Audra, came to the stage with a megaphone, a la Stone Temple Pilots, and Rage Against The Machine, and instantly drew my, and everyone else's, attention.

B. Dolan's Musical Roots Author: Adam Bernard Great hip-hop artists can be incredibly multifaceted individuals. In fact, they have to be. If a hip-hop artist is going to make a name for himself, or herself, they have to stand out from the crowd, and one such artist who has always stood out from ...

About Me. Name: Adam Bernard Home: Fairfield, Connecticut, United States About Me: Entertainment journalist w/ over a decade of experience.

I stayed at the Farmer’s Daughter last week and have been raving about it ever since. The place is beautiful, the staff is fantastic, they have a whiskey happy hour (which gave me quite the education on the spirit!), and there’s a great restaurant and bar attached that has a wild brunch. If you’re the least bit athletic you’ll be able to walk to quite a few Hollywood hot spots from the hotel. First of all, the Farmer’s Market, and The Grove, are right across the street. In the span of four days I ate Brazilian BBQ, fantastic Mexican, and one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life. (FYI - If you get up early, and hit up The Grove before the majority of the stores open, it’s pretty awesome to walk around the nearly empty outdoor mall, see the fountains, and hear the music, which the day I went was Sinatra, playing through the speakers) There’s also a 24 hour CVS down the street, which came in handy when I needed an energy drink at a random hour. I walked to the El Rey Theatre (1.5 miles) for a show, the route to which had me pass right by LACMA. Melrose, and all its quirky shops (and my friend’s art galleries) is also only 1.5 miles away. Amoeba Music is a bit more of a haul at around 3 miles away, but that’s still not bad being that most days are beautiful. Also, less than half a mile up from Melrose is Hollywood Boulevard, which you want to walk down anyway. The hotel’s whiskey happy hour is a brilliant idea, as it allows a variety of folks staying at the Farmer’s Daughter to meet, making us less strangers, and more friends, while staying there. Overall, my experience at the Farmer’s Daughter was fantastic, and I plan on staying there again the next time I hit LA. Pro Tip: If you’re getting there from the airport during peak traffic hours, Uber has a flat rate of $65 for the ride (if a friend has an Uber promo code you can knock $20 off of that). If, however, your ride will be during off hours (like my ride to the airport at 7:45am on a Sunday), ask the hotel to call you a cab the day before. It will only be around $45 for the ride.
