Scoops is third on my favorite ice cream list! I came from Long Beach to meet up for dinner with my foodie date. We had Scoops before dinner because I was curious about their famous Brown Bread ice cream. I love quirky flavors and this was on my to-eat-list. Unfortunately I showed up too late and they were out of Brown Bread. The staff managed to scrape a mini-spoonful out so I could sample it. I have a bad habit of wanting to try unique flavors/food or entres/beverage with weird names (ie. Alien Blood from Raw, Basil ice cream from Rose Creamry, Gen Mai Cha Latte from Cafe Dulce, bug dishes from Typhoon, etc). Not everything I try is amazing, it's a hit or miss lol But it makes my food album on my facebook pretty entertaining. Brown Bread ice cream was def a HIT! It tasted like bread with a good balance of the sweetness from the ice cream. I'm not saying its my favorite flavor, but I would like to order a scoop next time I'm in the area. I got 2 scoops: - blueberry cream: thumbs up - green tea - peanut butter ice cream: meh

One scoop= two scoops here. Remember that. They have new flavors everytime but the only one they consistently have is brown bread. WHICH IS AMAZING!! I came in thinking I would only get one scoop, but ended up coming back for seconds. The ice cream is rich enough but not too rich that I couldn't finish it all. They let you choose two flavors for those two scoops. And they encourage you to sample as well. They have quirky flavors like jagermeister and chai ricotta. I got the brown bread and banana something.. the first time. And brown bread and guiness tiramisu 5 minutes later. The second combo was def better! Cash only! Tip: Get the cup so you'll be qualified for a cheaper refill! If you like the cone, you can request to put the cone on top! Cone wasn't that great though :x

The only time I've ever been disappointed at Scoops is when they run out of one of my favorite gelato flavors. I've been coming here ever since they opened and they are a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Each visit you can expect the unexpected when it comes to flavor combinations. From Guinness Chocolate to Honey Ginger, there spectrum of choices ranges from the tried and true to the bold and daring. Parking is difficult due to the limited spaces in the area so be warned that you may spend more time finding a spot than eating your gelato during peak times.

Homemade ice cream with unique flavors (from brown bread to sorbets to a bunch of liqueur-ish flavors). If you're lucky there won't be a line. If you go very very late right when they're about to close (and there's not much of a selection), you may get a freebie or two. ;) Don't forget - a small order comes with two, not one, flavors! Not much has changed year over year here.. and that's a good thing! Don't have any recommendations for flavors because you can just sample them anyway. :D

I LOVE SCOOPS!!! Definitely my go to spot after lunch or dinner. This location is a lot bigger than the westside location. I also think the ice cream tastes better here as well! I always get the Apple Pie and some type of Oreo variation. You can never go wrong with Oreo anything!! The workers are friendly and quick! Only down side is that there is no A/C at this location. During the summers your ice cream melts quick, so eat fast! :)

empty, hidden little place. It was almost sad walking in here - the store was actually very spacious but the ice cream selection section was literally what could of been a corner section of the store! I def. believe they can vamp up the place to make it more lively but ..overall the ice cream it self wasn't bad.. My fave was the honey flavored goodness..not too sweet but enough to keep you wanting to more!

Home made ice cream is the best. Stop by if you have an opportunity for delightful delicate!!! Great bargain for a scoop full of bold flavored. White Chocolate and Raspberry are a favorite.

This place is ice cream heaven. Delicious, homemade and unique flavors in generous portions at a tiny and unassuming little storefront just south of LA City College. My personal favorite is brown bread, which I believe is made with Grape Nuts cereal. (Mmmm, fiber.) You used to be able to get a mug from the coffee shop next door, get a scoop of ice cream, and then get espresso poured over it, but I don't believe that they do this anymore. You can suggest flavors on a board on the wall. Consider trying your hand at being an ice cream chef.
