An Overseas Filipino is a person of Philippine origin who lives outside of the Philippines. This term applies both to people of Filipino ancestry who now live and reside as citizens of a different country, and those who continue to be Filipino citizens and those supporting their families back in the Philippines. It may also extend to Filipinos having extended holidays abroad, however, common usage does not usually include this group.

The term Global Filipino is now also being used to refer to a Filipino citizen who lives and works abroad. The performance of the Philippine economy over recent decades, combined with a widespread knowledge of English, a legacy of the Philippines' position as a former United States colony, have made Filipinos one of the most internationally mobile nationalities.

Filipino workers greatly contribute to this, as they need to support their families back at home. As a result, many countries around the world have a substantial Filipino community.

It was recently coined the term Overseas Filipino Investor or OFI for Filipino expatriates. This is due to the direct economic contributions of Overseas Filipinos in means of remittances, buying property back in the Philippines, and creating businesses that would help job creation back home.*

Welcome to aKö Pinöy™. This is your GOOGLE + !

Life as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) is very hard. We don't know how our jobs are going to end with wars and conflicts in our country of work.

The economic recession in US is a blackeye to millions of overseas Filipino workers, not just working in US, but in all parts of the world. Some of our employers have no respect for our pride and dignities. So, I won't be surprised if a Chinese journalist would describe the Philippines, as a country of slaves. Well, this guy doesn't know what's in our minds and hearts. We do this just as a preparatory to our plans to have FINANCIAL FREEDOM in the future. It may be not for us, but for our children and family members who are receiving the fruits of our hard works as OFW.

This GOOGLE + will also be a Filipino web site for chatting and socializing. Fast growing, so, please always visit us for this regularly. We will also learn how to do other businesses, or other sources of income while we are working abroad. This is a real preparation for the financial freedom we want to achieve. Through this, we could shorten our hard works as overseas Filipino workers (OFW) araound the world.*
