Why Eco Ethical Jewellery?

As a jeweller, I feel it necessary to educate myself about materials I work with to understand where they come from and whose lives they impact. I am always exploring more conscious and sustainable options for my jewellery materials. I use precious metals recycled from Earth's existing metal supply and will not use conflict or questionable gemstones in my work.

Deep listening can be miraculous!

This is me at every family gathering. I can't get enough of my beloved, charming uncle/metal master Guru, Robert Hutchings. I cherish every moment and every word.

Soon, he'll be on the Island, hanging out in the studio/gallery of Walker Studios, from July 15th to July 20th.
Pop in... check out his amazing jewellery collection, intricate metal and share a story or two.

Find out more about our exhibit "Passing The Torch" http://jeanettewalkerjewellery.com/gallery-shows/passing-the-torch-poster/ featuring the past and present works of our guest of honour, international award winning jewellery designer, Robert Hutchings. Also showcasing new works by fine artist Lindsay Walker, and jewellery designers Jim Aquilani and Jeanette Walker.

There is often an interesting story behind the custom jewellery pieces I make.
I like to reuse customers old unwanted gold to make them a new piece, however, often the pieces to be melted are of great sentimental value. For instance, it is a very sad day when a person loses their significant other. The wedding or commitment bands are symbolic of the love and the lives they shared. Once the relationship has ended ( whether due to a divorce or a member passing ) the rings are usually removed from the hands and stored in a box as a keepsake. I can take the engagement, wedding band of a woman who has gone through divorce and use the materials to create a newly designed ring for the right hand, or I can combine or melt together the wedding band of a widow with the ring of her beloved to create a new ring of sentiment and comfort.
