Don’t Walk On By:
Recently I witnessed a road traffic collision and stopped to help as soon as I saw it happen because it was the right thing to do. The people involved weren't badly hurt but they were in shock and needed assistance.
What really surprised me about the incident was that no-one else stopped to help. Was it that they were in too much of a hurry, believed it was the job of a paramedic, or just didn't care?
I like to think the best of people, so am going to assume that the reason they didn't stop, was that they were scared of getting involved. What would they be scared of? possibly the need to do first aid and the feeling that they might get it wrong or not be able to cope with what they might see.
So why was I happy to stop and get involved? well, besides the fact that I just couldn't walk (or drive) past an injured person, I have been a first aider for most of my adult life and feel fairly confident in my skills, so getting involved is quite "normal" for me.
The recent initiatives to train school children in first aid are a great idea, because once a person knows first aid, the fear of making a mistake will be less and they will become more willing to get involved in a first aid situation.
So, you ask, how do I get involved in first aid? You can volunteer with one of the local voluntary aid societies, offer to become a first aider at your workplace, or you could get a group of family and friends together and ask us to come and teach you a short evening or weekend session, or one of our longer certificated courses. The cost is minimal and learning the basics of first aid will give you the confidence to get involved instead of walking on by the next time you see an accident.

Couldn't agree more Seth. People and businesses should do good deeds because they want to, not for a return.

If the penalty is less than the size of the prize, then #foodfraud  will flourish. #Horsegate is just one of many frauds in recent years perpetrated by and on food manufacturers and the old saying about price, "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is," was never more apt.
We as consumers should not be surprised when the super cheap food that we demand turns out to be adulterated with cheaper or counterfeit foodstuffs - we sometimes get what we pay for and it isn't always palatable!

Running a #food  business and need to be BRC Version 7 compliant?
If so, you will need to get to grips with #TACCP  (Threat Analysis Critical Control Points).
TACCP will help your team recognise threats to your business from EMA (economically motivated adulteration) where cheap products are mislabelled and passed off as more expensive for financial gain; malicious contamination by staff, or terrorists; extortion such as the glass in baby food case in 1990; espionage; counterfeiting such as the fake Glen's Vodka case in 2013; cyber crime or hacktivists.
T&G Training run a TACCP course that will help your team prepare for all of the above issues and more.
Call us to book your course today - 01913000232
