Pane e Vino is an upscale casual restaurant and wine bar located in the heart of Historic Federal Hill.  We create all of our cuisine with a high respect for the admired traditions of Southern Italian cooking; combining the very best of tradition with current executions to form a straightforward philosophy...local, simple, & fresh. Our menu and daily specials highlight seasonal flavors, fresh local produce, an all-Italian wine list, and imported specialties from Italy.

Great service, attentive staff and the food was great. I highly recommend the lobster ravioli.

I love this place! I had the pleasure of dining here on a Monday night. Words cannot describe their aqua pazza, a poached Chilean sea bass over cows cous. Everyone in my party enjoyed what they had and one of my friends was kind enough to share his 4-cheese gnocchi with me, OMG they were out of this world! To top it all off all off, their wine is 1/2 price on Mondays! This will be our new "go to" restaurant in Providence. A big thank you to our server Allyson, we had a great time!!!

Eva, I'm so glad to hear everything, from the sea bass to the 1/2 priced wine, helped to deliver an out-of-this-world experience. I'll be sure to let Allyson know she did an excellent job too, as long as you make good on making us your go-to Providence restaurant -- because hey, we'd love to see you again! Take care. -Joseph D., Owner

I had first been to Pane-E-Vino about a month back with my colleagues and our experience was great in all ways. So I had highly recommended this place to my friend and this past weekend our families visited for a celebration. We had made a reservation for a party of seven (4 adults and 3 kids) for 8:30 PM. We reached the restaurant at 8:29 PM and we were told it will take a few minutes for our table to be ready. There were a few other parties waiting for their table at the same time, at least one of them was a large party as ours. Within a few minutes everybody else had been taken to their tables and our party was the only one waiting. At about 8:45 pm we were told again that the previous party at the table is just about wrapping up and we should have the table in a few minutes. It was only at about 9 PM that we finally got the table, this was 30 minutes late in spite of making a reservation (all parents will know what a 30 minute wait is for dinner when kids are with you). I found this very unusual. Another unusual thing was that their website says "A 20% gratuity will be added to parties of 8 or more". However this 20% gratuity was automatically added even for us, a party of seven. While the 20% was deserved, I felt it was wrong on the part of the restaurant to add it automatically for our party. Food was great, but I felt overall experience wasn't.

Excellence at its best! This was our first time dining at the restaurant. What a great experience. The service and food were great. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. Amanda was our server and did an excellent job. We will be back for sure.

Great gnocchi, wonderful atmosphere. Will recommend
Response from the owner - a month ago
Eric, happy to hear you enjoyed the gnochi and atmosphere enough to give us your recommendation. That really means a lot, and because it's been awhile since this review, I hope you've followed your own advice and stopped back in. If not, well, consider this an invitation to come see us again. Take care 'til then! -Joseph D., Owner

Five stars because you get what you pay for, which is solid Italian food. I had the gnocchi in tomato sauce with fresh mozzarella (and yes, it was real San Marzano tomatoes, cooked simply with garlic, basil, and maybe some white wine.) My girl had the breast of chicken with porcini, wine, and cream reduction. Gnocchi was nice and fluffy (no "stomach bombs") and both the chix and porcini sauce were done nicely. I had bruschetta napolitana which was lovely, the bread having been obviously toasted over wood. Also tried a duck tagliatelle which was excellent - the capolavoro of the whole meal. Nice to find a good Italian (and moderately priced) restaurant in the otherwise totally caffone guido-fest of Federal Hill. Won't find it in the Michelin guide, but you will find me going back to try the reasonably authentic and often locally sourced foods. P.S. Good for dates, but call ahead and request a more private table in the back dining room.
