Steampunk Talk  -

Hi, I'm a Bournemouth University postgraduate student and I'm producing a short Steampunk drama for my Masters project. It's a short 20-minute film with aesthetic influences of Steampunk called "Revelations". We're trying to make it a really good film that does justice to the Steampunk movement.

So I would really appreciate it if you could just let me know what your favourite Steampunk films/shows/web-series are (both feature, or short films, big-budget and mainstream independent). Please tell me what do you like about it, what doesn't work for you, and what would you like to see in a Steampunk film.

Your responses will be very helpful. Here is the synopsis of our film.
"Revelations" is a short sci-fi costume drama with influences of Steampunk. It's a Neo-Victorian style love story with Cyberpunk elements, which makes it a Jane Austin-esque costume drama that is more accessible, entertaining and interesting to those who might be more into Sci-Fi, the subculture or just curious in general.

Revelations is set in an alternate timeline and in this world, the First World War has never ended and the country is running on the war economy. The story is about our protagonist, Amelia, who has found herself helplessly stuck within the oppressive walls of status, fuelled by her authoritarian mother, Jane; her love interest, Cassius, who has recently returned from the war; and his rival, Hugo, the high ranking corporate official whom Jane adores. We follow Amelia as she struggles to satisfy her duty as a daughter as well as her duty to herself and satisfying her own wants and needs.

Within a grand countryside estate, resides a girl full of melancholy. Amelia Grayson sits day in and day out, waiting for the news that will tell her whether her soldier boyfriend, Cassius Verne is dead or alive. But now, Amelia’s mother, Jane will not allow her daughter to revel in her depression any longer. Jane arranges a ‘reveal party’ and for her to court Hugo Wells, a high-ranking military official. When Cassius miraculously returns from the war unscathed, Amelia rebels against her mother’s wishes only to witness Jane exercising the full extent of her powers over her. She will wed Hugo Wells, or report Cassius as AWOL. Defeated, Amelia sinks back into depression as she attends the ball and courts Hugo Wells, when an unexpected face shows attendance, revealing bigger truths than Amelia could ever imagine and sends everything into chaos.

The film blends a lot of themes that audiences are familiar with, like love and coming of age, but it’s the aesthetic world and the subtle nuances that the die hard Steampunk fans will really enjoy and get excited about. It’s these things that are what really makes Revelations stand out from other aesthetically niche stories and other similarly themed stories.

Hey,

So while we are extremely thankful to everyone who have supported us so far, we have now decided it is time to up the ante and make things a bit more interesting. What we plan to do is introduce a (drumroll please) ‘REFERRAL CONTEST’.

What is a Referral Contest, you ask? Well, that shall just be explained.

A Referral Contest is basically a contest where the person who spreads the word about our campaign and manages to bring in the maximum funding through those referrals automatically becomes eligible for our ‘Prince’ perk.

Yes, a Special Thanks credit, a digital copy of the film, a PDF of the screenplay, 10 digital production stills, PDF of the film poster AND a FB and Twitter shout-out (phew!) could ALL be yours without having to shell out a single penny! AND as a special bonus, we will also give you the entire film that has been edited using our wonderful storyboards. It will be like watching a comic strip with voiceovers. This bonus is not part of any perk and will only be available to the winner of the Referral Contest.

What YOU need to do is register for Indiegogo, and while you're logged in, click on the Share the Campaign section (http://igg.me/at/Revelations-The-Film/x/3249639) and share it via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, whatever your social media poison is, and get as many people to contribute to our film. Doing that will automatically boost your referrals count. It’s THAT simple.

To keep things fair and updated, we will be posting the list of the top three referrers every 3 days.

So hurry up and refer away. You just have 14 days left.

Start spreading the word and start bringing in the moolah!
