A strategy strategy sounds about right :) I'm all for the KISS rule -- keep it simple, stupid!

Strategy has to come before you jump onto the next new social network.

More dire predictions for RIM? I hope for the best for the sake of its employees.

It is, truly, the end of RIM as we know it.
BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion shares are down tonight after reporting a terrible quarter: Sales are shrinking at a time when its main competitor, Apple, saw iPhone sales more than double. RIM is...

Love the idea of using Timeline to tell a story about a business or brand.

Since Facebook launched Timeline for Pages toward the end of February, the majority of the attention has been on the early adopters, those big brands that just about everyone recognizes. Not anymore.

Will the Curator's Code help with the issue of proper attribution online? It would be nice for people to have an easy to use way of giving credit where credit is due.

From Brain Pickings:

"The Curator’s Code is an effort to keep this whimsical rabbit hole open by honoring discovery through an actionable code of ethics — first, understanding why attribution matters, and then, implementing it across the web in a codified common standard, doing for attribution of discovery what Creative Commons has done for image attribution."

I have a hard time imagining everyone using a common system :) (Look at the different between MLA and APA guidelines in academia, for instance.) I happy to see people talking about these issues :)

I like the #newgoogleplus, but wish I'd had some time to play with it and preview it for our business page before it went live!

I think Facebook had the better roll-out strategy. It had timeline for individuals first, so we knew what to expect for our business pages -- and had 30 days to figure out layout and a cover image.

I guess since most businesses don't have much of a following yet, it won't be as big a deal as in Facebook though.

Good points about the value of Tweetchats --- IF you have an audience that's interested in interacting.
Some communities on Twitter have started holding regular “chats” by tweeting at each other using hash tags. But are these e-meetings useful?

Short and sweet! I love point about including variety -- promoting others as well as your own stuff, sharing news, inspiration, etc.

Interesting infographic... It doesn't matter how cute the cartoon, I doubt many people want to face Panda!

Just when you thought Google’s Panda was taking a rest, Google announced that there have been recent updates to the algorithm that targets low-quality web content.

I love how some writers are good at getting to the point. This quote has stuck with me all day:

"Top talent leave an organization when they’re badly managed and the organization is confusing and uninspiring."

Love her suggestions for improving corporate culture too.

Interesting, and sort of scary too:

"Creation takes a lot of time where curation takes just seconds," Paine said. "Pinterest allows us all to be thought leaders on fashion, food and travel destinations without needing to do the research ourselves."

Prior to Pinterest, if we weren't creating content ourselves, we were more likely to share articles and videos. Pinterest has quickly changed that.
Laura Paine has a simple answer when asked why Pinterest exploded in popularity at this particular juncture in Internet history. The former reporter watched her newspaper cut positions, go from being...
