I wrote a post about lazy econ critiques, so some folks on Twitter were asking me "Which critiques do you think are good, and which are not?" So since I'm overjoyed when someone actually cares what I think enough to ask, I de...

technology is improving electricity pricing, and probably improving consumer understanding.
Back in the “good old days” most customers had no choice about how to buy electricity and a regulator’s life was pretty easy.  The utility needed sufficient revenue to cover its costs, but the regu...

Some remarkably insightful commentary on the Greece and broader EU situation that you won't read in the press.  Who is this guy or gal?
Here's a fact about the Greek financial crisis that doesn't seem to be widely reported: in just under five months, the rules of the game are going to change, and the changes will probably tilt the balance of power in favor of...

Matt has taken the bait and asked me a five good questions about my snarky, contrarian post on climate adaptation.  Here are his questions and my answers. Question 1.  This paper will be published soon by the JPE. Costinot...

Renewable energy not as costly as some think
The other day Marshall and Sol took on Bjorn Lomborg for ignoring the benefits of curbing greenhouse gas emissions.  Indeed.  But Bjorn, among others, is also notorious for exaggerating costs.  That fact is that most serious estimates of reducing emissions ...

We plan to post a review by a seminar attendee each week.  Here's Syed Shurid's review of my seminar last week.  Each post should come about one week after the seminar.

I don't get it.  Has Yellen been consumed by the Borg?
Will the Federal Reserve’s September meeting see US interest rates go up for the first time since 2006? Officials have held out the prospect that it might, and have suggested that — barring major unforeseen developments — rates will probably be

Jonathan managed a very nice job on a small remodel of a bath. I did the demo work myself, and ask Jon to finish up. It wasn't a huge job--we replaced a double vanity, new tile floor, new electrical outlet, and replaced toilets in two bathrooms. Really high quality work and professional and timely execution. Extremely fair price, too. I recommend highly. I wish he moved from Raleigh to Hawaii so I could hire him to work on our house here ;-)
