Went in to get some questionable spots screened for cancer and left with a bill for something I didn't ask for. While screening me for unusual marks, the doctor noticed I had two cysts and asked if I wanted to have them drained while I was there. I don't have money to spend on unnecessary medical procedures so I asked what it would cost. The doctor replied "don't worry about it" and continued the screening, which I assumed meant she took my question as a "no." After finishing the screening, a nurse came in and drained my cyst anyway, so at this point I figured maybe it was such an inexpensive procedure they just waived the fee. I'm not a dermatologist so what do I know.? But to be clear, at no point did I say I wanted this procedure done. Once the doctor declined to tell me the cost it was never brought up again and if any cost was mentioned I would have declined it. I'm on a tight budget and the cancer screening was enough of a burden. When the bill came, turns out I was charged $500 for the procedure. I called, I emailed, and someone finally got back to me today, December 1st. My appointment was back in June. I relayed what happened and the person on the phone either didn't believe me or didn't care, so I'm stuck with the bill. TL;DR they wouldn't tell me the cost of a procedure, performed it without obtaining consent, then charged me $500 for it. That's some shady mechanic BS, so obviously I would never go back here.
