Overall, there were some really good dishes which would require a return visit.

Silvestre Gusto Latino is a hidden gem in the heart of Gastown....

You might walk by this unassuming and narrow restaurant located very close to the famous steam clock and miss it. In fact, from the street it appears to be a gelato joint. Look deeper inside and you will see a restaurant that is welcoming and satisfying.

“Silvestre” means to grow despite adversity and once inside tasting these delights you will see why Eduardo chose the restaurant name so carefully. Get here before the hordes of tourists and locals discover this Peruvian cuisine to be the next big foodie trend.

Opinions from a Queen !
I’d recommend trying it if you are looking for something different and tasty.
I was impressed by all of the food I had at Silvestre’s, there is not a dish I didn’t like. The restaurant manager was super nice and he explained all of the Peruvian dishes to me. It was a fun experience to be able to try tons of new things and to learn that there is a great little Peruvian restaurant in Vancouver.

A great place to have peruvian style food
"Finally a place in Gastown offering latin american food bringing a fresh perspective on the tired cookie cut sushi experience.
The staff is very friendly and eager to please you. The food is just fantastic and tasteful. I tried the Bitufaffa sandwich with spicy onions and the Inca Cola pop.

You get delicious fresh made food  for your dollar. I'm definitely coming back again".

Something different with a Latin spin
"I found myself at the entrance of Silvestre place looking at the outside banner listing Peruvian food and simply couldn't resist the temptation of trying their empanadas.
A very tasty pastry filled with meat served hot was my first choice, then I moved on the Chicha, a sweet drink made out mainly of corn. The combination was just fantastic.
Next time I'm downtown I will pay a visit to Silvestre for sure."

This is by far the BEST, most authentic, Peruvian food I've had anywhere (other than Peru, of course). Fantastic quality, reasonable prices - really, really good!
Food Excellent, Decor Excellent Service Excellent
So far I tried the Lomo Saltado and the Chicharron and they were nothing short of excellent. The service is friendly as the owners are frequently in the restaurant. They keep adding more dishes to the menu and being from Lima myself I'm glad there is a great peruvian restaurant in Vancouver.

Lima Perú

For those who don't know much about peruvian food. Try a "papa rellena" (stuffed potato) or an "empanada" with some Chicha Morada.
A great intro!
