"How are you?"
Are you really listening? Do you care?
"Have a nice day."
Really? Are you wishing them good things and imagining them blessed?
"Hope you feel better soon."
Will you check on them tomorrow? Do you empathize how it sucks to be ill?
Do you honor this person that gave you the opportunity to see your blessings?
Niceties, empty cordialities, good manners... these are the pocket change of the stoic, of the detached. We toss these at all the beggar souls we meet, but do we meet the eyes and realize that the touch of the heart and hands that is offered is worth more than a bit of social currency?
The Egyptians threw away the brain and kept the heart for good reason. Next time, I dare you to mean what you say. Put your heart in your hands and your words and your actions. Step out into their space where they are instead of cracking the window and tossing out an epithet. You will feel alive because, for a moment, you decided to live.
(And this explains why my honesty gets me in trouble so much!)
I'm in a pruning stage and FB tends to distract and/or upset me more than it builds my life up. I may use it later as a marketing tool, but I'm over it for now.
