I’m a news junkie. There’s no denying it. I read news online nearly constantly. Anytime a newspaper is available, I consume its contents. My favorite television stations are 24-hour news channels, and I spend a majority of my day listening to National…

I was in the market for a good mystery. Something with a private detective. I found “The Cuckoo’s Calling” by Robert Galbraith. However, I didn’t find it because of the plot line. I found it because who Robert Galbraith really is. He is a she, and she is…

I liked it . . . so I put a ring on it

Two months. That’s how long it has been since I took Beyonce’s advice and put a ring on it. The it, of course, was the finger of Kendall Perry, who will soon be my wife. I proposed on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 (yes, I proposed on Friday the 13th . . . I think…

Leroy Klatt. Leroy was my school bus driver from the time I was in Kindergarten all the way into my high school years. At first, I always thought he was mean and scary. He was gruff at times, but he always took care of us and made sure we arrived at our…

Best book fonts

Nice post by Sabrina Ricci with practical advice on choosing fonts for your book - and what to avoid! Good links for more information and for places you can download fonts for free.

Top tips:

1. Body text - always use a serif font. Don't use all bold. Some blocks of italics are okay.

2. Headlines - Sans serif fonts are good for these. Don't end with a period and don't use color.

Thanks to Joel  for finding this - part of his excellent weekly roundup (www.thebookdesigner.com)
