Personally, I think the place is over hyped. I ordered pancakes and they were HUGE and tasteless. I think people say it's good simply because other people say it is good. No one wants to be the black sheep and say it's overrated. You can get better quality at other places. Also, I was forced to use a table with people I didn't know. The place was FILTHY! They play 5 pm music for breakfast lol. They may have some potential but I didn't see it.

Food is great, I've never been disappointed with the menu. However, between waiting in a parking lot to get seated and the garbage hanging above the booths, i have no interest in eating here any more. I'd like to see them buy a larger and clean building they could better provide for their guests.

You would never expect it from the exterior, but the food here is out of this world. They are the champions of the french toast game, with different varieties everyday like bourbon street french toast and strawberry rhubarb french toast. The wait to get in can be two hours, and once you get in, it's usually just under an hour to get your food. The staff are friendly, but they don't take jackflappery from customers. The interior is filled with spontaneous decor with no real theme, as well as hilarious books and a large bin of crayons with coloring books. There's also loud music, sometimes rap, sometimes techno, sometimes local rock music.

One of the worst breakfasts I have ever had. My potatoes had a quarter inch of char on them. What cook does not notice such severe burning?

Eating here is not merely eating, it is an experience. It is not for everyone, but neither is the fanciest or finest restaurant. The place is noisy, the music is loud, the staff in hippie/punk, and the food is amazing. I found the staff fun to talk to and real, not just people with a job pandering for tips. It is not the cheapest breakfast or lunch in town, but the portions are huge and the quality is excellent. I recommend sitting at the counter to get the whole experience. Be sure to chat with the staff if you can...they are always busy.

Absolutely in love with the atmosphere, and ive ever had an experience short of perfect whenever I'm there. Would recommend to anyone who's open to trying kick ass food and enjoys loud rock n roll

Absolutely the best breakfast you have ever had. Get there early though because there will be a line. Really cool decorations and music too. If you're looking for a quiet, reserved place to go with your professor or something, this isn't it. But if you want amazing food and a great atmosphere and don't mind loud music in the morning, it'll be an experience you won't forget. The comments about the service are not completely off base. Golden Harvest is known for being a super hipster mecca in Lansing and I feel like the workers know this. You have to wait in line and you're expected to know the rules and a few of the people that work there are not the greatest but go for the experience, and on the whole it's overwhelmingly positive in my experience

This place is great but understand a couple of things. 1. You will wait. Most likely outside and it will be a while. You will sit with people you don't know. And the food will take a while to come out. 2. It is loud. The music is part of the style of the place. So understand it will be loud and they will not turn it down so don't ask. It could be techno it could be pantera it could be rap. That's part of the fun. 3. The staff are interesting. Some are incredibly friendly people. All are people and all will give you the same respect you give them. 4. Don't be a grouch. Get to know the people you are sitting with because again it will be a wait for your food. 5. Cash only and no take out orders. They will give you a box for anything you don't finish. 6. Enjoy the food. Check out the specials and look over the menu. The biscuits and sausage gravy is by far the best I've ever had ever. 7. If even one part of this doesn't sound fun or enjoyable. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!! Because you will not enjoy your breakfast.
