In reality, in the US, you cannot get into the specialist's office "immediately." While the wait time may not be a month (and believe me, I have a better understanding than most of just how precious every single day is when somebody has cancer) wait times can still be upwards of 2-3 weeks, then you have the ridiculous co-pay, it has to be an HMO approved doctor, etc... I was happy to hear you mention single paying member, it really is the direction we are headed. And yes, there are horror stories like having to wait a month for an appointment, but there are horror stories on our side of the fence as well. No system is perfect, every system has flaws. Thanks for your thoughts, Markee!
