This is the only project I was allowed to work on during my recent illness. Two hours spread out through the day. It is a wedding gift. The basket contains various kitchen gadgets, spices and teas that can be used in the recipes, over 100, found in the 4 x 6 recipe card file you see on top. There is a notebook with tips on natural recipes handed down through the generations. The earliest recipe is 1916 that most recent was one I heard while "listening" to the Food Network Channel. I also scanned all the tips and recipes to a flash drive. I am sure that will be used more than the hand written recipes. They were scanned and printed in the handwriting of most of the people that passed them down. The notebook also has blank tabs, pockets and page protectors  for her to start her own family cookbook recipe collection. In front you see the Homemade Spice Mixes made from recipes include; Chili Mix, Pumpkin Pie Spice and Apple Pie Spice. Tomorrow I will add my favorite Italian Seasoning Mix to the collection. I will give this to them this weekend at the Wedding Celebration BBQ.  What does everyone think of this as a gift? Would you like that as a wedding  celebration gift?

What would Isaac Stearns and John Biscoe think of the Middlesex Canal System of the day.

Back in 1647 The were appointed by the selectman f Watertown, Massachusetts "to consider how the bridge over the river shall be built, and to agree with the workman for doing it, according to their best discretion."

This was the first mention of a bridge over the river at Watertown according to "Winthrop' Journal, History of New England, 1630-1649 by John Winthrop edited by James kendall Hsmer, LLD Charles Scribner's Son New York 1908 found on Googlebooks.com.

Isaac Stearns is my 9th Great Grandfather. He arrived on the Arbella, part of the Winthrop Fleet, in 1630 to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He  chose to settle in Watertown, Massachusetts.
