Typical dreck for the rusticants of Minnesota. Pay a bit more for the superlative Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim. Of course the fabulous Getty and Hrischorn are always free. There are so many other fine and smaller museums of modern art around the country that clearly outshine this architectural monstrosity of Minnesota chic. However, the Sculpture Garden is a nice place of serenity. The bushes offer a clandestine place to barf after being visually assaulted by the indoor collection and snarky "prison guards". So many of us in the arts fault Halbreich for her disastrous decision to turn down state funds for the expansion. That will continue to cripple the Walker for years to come and leave it as only a regional favorite.

The "main entrance" leads into a hall next to the bookstore. The museum is user unfriendly, with small directional signs posted on the walls. I met a friend for lunch, but the "cafe" serves no coffee or alcohol. The Sculpture Garden is one of my favorite Twin City places, but unless there is a very special exhibit, I wouldn't care to go back.

This place is the best. Free on thursday afternoons and all day on the first Saturday of the month. As one of the best museums in the country, this place is a real gem for modern art. The garden is very chill in the summer as well. Go there now.

I saw multiple John Zorn shows here. Do I need more reason to give it 5 stars?

Not a great experience with the staff members there. Upon entering, I was told that I could hold my backpack by my side by a staff member there. A second staff member approached me and asked me about my backpack, but told me I could keep it. A third staff member asked me about my backpack, and I told her two other staff members told me I could keep it. While talking to her, a FOURTH staff member came up and told me that this is "two misinformations" in a very aggressive tone, and told me I had to put it in a locker. She was very cold and rude. I understand a no-backpack policy, but please address this from the beginning or be more friendly when telling me I can't carry it. The staff intensely watches you as you look at the art - I'm there to enjoy art, not feel like a criminal.

I'm a teenager and I have gone with my school and my family, most recently during the Van Gogh exhibit. My brother and I enjoyed it, he liked a bunch of old swords, guns, and armor and I liked the Van Gogh section because it reminded me of the Doctor Who episode "Vincent and The Doctor." Anyway, the time I went on a tour with my school it was not as fun because we were rushed through so I didn't have time to look at stuff. I also like to look at art alone because guides and friends are distracting so I didn't like that field trip much. Over all it is a great museum, I'll go back again for sure!

Glad I went when it was free. There was some interesting stuff but not much that really got me that excited or looked really cool. If you don't understand "modern art" you will probably like the trinkets in the gift shop more than some of the exhibits.

The facilities here are very modern; unfortunately, so is the art. About halfway through the galleries I wanted my money back. In all, there were only 2 or 3 pieces in the entire museum that did anything for me. The adjoining sculpture garden was more of the same--the grounds were very nice, the sculptures very incomprehensible. Now if you like modern art then by all means pay these places a visit. If not, then stay very very very far away.
