Happy Record Store Day!
Dave Wilkins is expecting customers to line up by the dozens outside Wax Trax Records on Record Store Day to buy exclusive, limited-edition releases from Death Cab for Cutie, the Pixies and other bands. But they won't be buying them on CD.

Every game my dad has attended so far has been an Avalanche OT win. Don't worry -- he's going on Saturday, too.

When will passwords be obsolete? They're starting to feel kind of old-fashioned, aren't they?
Last Friday, Samsung's new Galaxy S5 arrived with an unexpected and underhyped feature. Like the iPhone 5S, it came with a fingerprint reader, but this reader plugs directly into PayPal, which...

This #Denver #art gallery sounds really cool. Now, can I free up a Sunday afternoon...?
The new Dateline exhibition space gets its charm from the fact that it's not like other galleries in town.

Does this sound like a deal to you? If not, would you do it if they had it the other way around -- paying you $1500?

For today only, anyone in the U.S. can purchase Google Glass — for $1500 + tax.
Today, April 15 at 9 a.m. ET, everyone in the U.S. will be able to buy Google Glass.

Via +Al Lewis, here's a map that'll give you an idea of whether it's better to buy or rent housing in your area.

» Introduce Yourself  -

Hi folks! I've been lurking and trying to glean some tips and tricks for my Smart Consumer community, but thought I should introduce myself. I don't really mind sharing relevant links to the basically empty community for now, but I wonder if anybody has great advice on how to get the community some exposure, or on what types of content tend to be the most attractive. Many thanks!

This is really amazing. The serving sizes, labeling, and consumer awareness are going to take a long time to get to the places they need to be.

UPDATE: Levy Thamba, 19, ate an entire "Sweet Grass Kitchen" lemon poppy seed cookie, which contained 65 milligrams of THC and was labeled 6.5 servings. He then became incoherent, at one point apparently talking to a room lamp, before he ran onto a hotel balcony and jumped to his death.

A college student who jumped to his death from a Denver hotel balcony last month ate six times the recommended amount of a marijuana cookie before his death.

Check this out! Really great consumer story.

General Mills, the maker of cereals like Cheerios and Chex as well as brands like Bisquick and Betty Crocker, has quietly added language to its website to alert consumers that they give up their right to sue the company if they download coupons, “join” it in online communities like Facebook, enter a company-sponsored sweepstakes or contest or interact with it in a variety of other ways.
The food company General Mills added language to its website to alert customers that they cannot take legal action against the company if they download coupons, enter a contest or connect with it in other ways.

As we store more and more personal data on our phones, the "kill switch" will become more important. But is it just another thing that hackers can exploit? Another look at our terrible future! Happy Wednesday!
The "kill switch," a system for remotely wiping data and shutting down smartphones, will soon become standard, according to a deal from CTIA.

It's stupid that you're not here right now, sitting at a table by yourself using the wifi, or with another person, or around the larger table that seems good for book clubs, or on the couch by the sunny window, or near the stage where apparently some interesting things happen at night; drinking a carefully made beverage like the coffee I get most days or the excellent homemade chai that may be the best my wife or I have ever had; eating the made-to-order breakfast burrito that is so packed with delicious ingredients that it is worth the wait (and there is a bit of a wait for it); enjoying the pleasant and funkily cultivated atmosphere.
