The Orisha Yemaya is saluted on September 7th. She is associated with motherhood and divine protection. In my experience many are able to connect with her through her maternal ashe, or divine energy.

The Why of White Clothing in #Vodou   #Voodoo   #Santeria   #Lucumi  and #Umbanda
White clothing is not limited to the Haitian Vodou Religion, Umbanda, or Lucumi (Santeria,) many different religions from Druids to Christians understand and appreciate the ritual nature of white dress.

Great discussion here about syncretism and cultural appropriation, please watch.
Join myself, Lilith Dorsey and fellow Patheos Pagan blogger Sable Aradia as we discuss how our respective traditions navigate this issue. We had another wonderful discussion this week talking about some of the hard topics, like cultural appropriation and creation.

Watch us tonight at 9pm EST for more Real Voodoo and Witchcraft

Voodoo is often described as a "syncretic religion." What does that mean? What influences come together to form Voodoo, and does that vary between Voodoo traditions? How does this apply to other Afro-Diasporic traditions? And is Wicca also a syncretic religion, and if so, what influences come together to form different traditions of Wicca? Lilith Dorsey, Voodoo Priestess, and Sable Aradia, Wiccan Priestess, discuss these issues and answer your questions.
This Hangout On Air is hosted by SableAradia. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

Protective blessings can be found with this herb.
Another name for this herb is Witch's Umbrella, so it's no surprise that there are a lot of uses that fall under this umbrella. It is ruled by the planet Saturn, and hence associated with magick, rejuvenation, healing, and karma.

Can you picture this?
Like they say in the Zombie movies it is always best to double tap. Take two or more photos of your subject if possible. Use a different camera, or your phone to try and capture what it is you desire to document.
