If you've done the coast, why stop there? Queensland has some of the most accessible, big-sky, genuine outback Australian country you can experience. Beyond the Great Dividing Range the sky opens up over tough country, both relentless and beautiful. Travellers come for the exotic and intimate Australian experience, their restlessness tamed by the sheer size of the place, its luminous colours and its silence.

If you own a dog, you’ll know the places you can go and things you can do are limited, especially without your best friend mortally embarrassing you by spontaneously dropping one at the worst possible moment. If you don’t own a dog, there’s a good chance you wish you did, and want to go somewhere you can pretend you own a dog, without the hassle of knowing you’re literally responsible for an animal’s excrement.

Farewell to the 'greatest Games we’ve ever seen'. Having the opportunity to become one of the GC2018 Games Shapers is pretty exciting. We both felt so lucky to be part of the GC2018 Games Shapers workforce. We were grateful for the volunteer experience and working with people from all walks of life, young and old, who also gave up their time to help create a positive buzz and strived to achieve a common goal, being the success of the games. The experience has also given us a window and appreciation for the inner workings of the complexities of organizing an event the size of the Commonwealth Games.

Over 47,000 people from Australia and overseas applied to volunteer for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018), held here in Queensland in April. We were proud to be two of the 15,000 people who were selected to be volunteers, known as Games Shapers. Volunteering is something we do on a regular basis but when we saw the opportunity to be a part of the Games, we jumped at the chance of a lifetime. The whole lead up to the Games as a volunteer was an entirely new experience for us. Since the build-up began during the middle of 2017, the whole process has slowly begun to pick up speed and become so much more exciting as the Games closed in. Here’s our story of the lead-up to the Games.

In Australia, you should be able to keep finding fruit picking jobs 12 months a year if you are keen enough.. As the country is big and covers many different climatic regions,a wide variety of fruits and vegetables can be grown from north to south. So from bananas in tropical Queensland to cherries in southern Tasmania,it’s possible to keep travelling and picking fruit all year round.

There is something magical about a winery. Plump bunches of juicy grapes growing abundantly in sprawling vineyards magically materialise into a delicious liquid form. Most winery escapades require a lengthy drive to a remote place. We've discovered many wineries on out trips around Australia.

Australia is undisputedly an outdoor adventurer’s paradise. It’s a magical land rife with top notch surf beaches, world class diving sites, and Outback treks. But if you’re pledging to pursue more offbeat adventures in the New Year, you have to venture out a little further.

I was flicking through some old photos the other day, and couldn’t help but feel so thankful for the many 4WD destinations we can pack up and head out to in this incredible country. We truly do have world class beaches and national parks, and owning a 4WD means you can access the best spots that Australia has to offer. Being able to access so many truly amazing places in a 4WD is a privilege. The more we travel this stunning country the longer the list grows, but I have a number of places that I absolutely love, and would highly recommend. We can’t put these in any particular order; they are all truly special, but here are 3. We would give away too many secrets.

Agnes Water & The Town Of 1770 has been on our Travel ‘Bucket List’ for a long time, and we are glad we ticked off this gem of an area before it got overpopulated. As far as sleepy little beach towns go, 1770 off the Southern Great Barrier Reef is among the best. A quiet, charming pocket of beautiful beaches and swimming spots mixed with lively restaurants and cafes makes it an ideal place for a family vacation or an escape with loved ones. More than just a pretty face, 1770 (also known as Town of Seventeen Seventy) has an incredible history. The town is built on the site of the second landing by Captain Cook in May all the way back in, you guessed it, 1770! Each year the locals re-enact the historic landing as part of an annual festival held in May.
