"Yay! I'm a fan" perfectly describes Trader Joe's for me. It's not a must have, but I'm glad there's one close by my home. There are a few items that I buy at Joe's that I cannot get anywhere else, such as the roasted red pepper tomato soup. I also love the Trader Joe's brand Greek yogurt. I also cannot go to Joe's without swinging by the samples station to see what they are pushin! The employees are always friendly and seem to be happy doing their jobs. The fresh flowers are great and I love to stop and smell them. The frozen section is also top notch- I'm always finding something new to try when I peruse these aisles. There are two reasons I cannot give Joe's five stars. The first reason is because the parking lot is a war zone! The spaces are way to small and just begging to have your doors dinged by parking in them. The lot itself is shared between multiple businesses and too small to begin with. The other reason I cannot give Joe's five stars is because it cannot be my one stop grocery store. I cannot go there to do all of my grocery shopping, mainly because the meat section does not have the variety or quantities that the mainstream grocery stores offer. The prices here are reasonable, more so I believe than their competitors.

We live in Downeast Maine. Before the Portland, Maine, store opened, we traveled to Shrewsbury MA for TJ's. The Maine store is wonderful: well-stocked,efficient + helpful staff, clean, great samples. Parking is the only downside, and it's a big one. My sister- and brother-in-law tried to stop in quickly on Saturday. Not a single space available, and several cars waiting to park. They gave up and left.

It wasn't until I shopped at Trader Joe's that I realized how positive of a grocery shopping experience I could possibly have! I went for the first time last night and as I proceeded to the check-out counter, there was one person in front of me checking out, but that was better than 6-8 per usual at any other grocery store. So I was unfazed and waited patiently. Not two seconds later the teller from a couple check-out counters away came promptly over and said "I can take you over here!". Her attentiveness was impressive enough, but then she actually picked up my basket and brought it to her check-out counter for me. I was blow away. That little gesture of taking initiative and going above and beyond is just something you don't see anymore. Grocery stores have become a fairly un-personable experience in my book - but not this one. Thank you Trader Joe's for caring about your employees enough so they are actually happy to work there. It really does make a difference!

It was a holiday when Trader Joe's opened a store in Portland,ME. I was used to them from living in Boston,MA. I regularly go to TJ's for my staples. Their frozen vegetables and berries beat anybody in terms of quality and price. Their Artisan Breads, especially the French pain du campagne, is a must for me it also freezes very well. I have even started buying their meats because of the superior quality; and of course: flowers! And the many choices of good wines! Actually, I think TJ's could market a better wine under their own label Charles Shaw. That's the only improvement I could think of. Not to forget their lovely staff, always helpful, always available. The enlarged parking lot is a big plus as well.

My wife and I like most of the things we have purchased and their return policy is unbelievable - just tell them you didn't like an item - no receipt and it is not necessary for the item to be brought in.

Much larger with better selection than the Trader Joe's around home (Washington, DC).
