Yogurt May Lower Diabetes Risk. Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health have found an association between increased yogurt consumption and a lower risk of developing type-2 diabetes. More specifically, they found that participants in a multi-decade study who ate a daily 28-gram serving of yogurt were 18% less likely to receive a type 2 diabetes diagnosis during the course study when compared with those who did not eat any yogurt, even after controlling for factors that elevate diabetes risk like BMI and diet. Exercise: The First Line Treatment for Virtually Every Chronic Disease! In an editorial published in the December 2014 issue of the journal Progress in Cardiovascular Disease, Dr. Robert E. Sallis, the current chairman for the Exercise is Medicine initiative, writes, "The time has come for healthcare systems to take an active role in the promotion of physical activity (PA). The connection between PA and health has been clearly established and exercise should be viewed as a cost effective medication that is universally prescribed as a first line treatment for virtually every chronic disease."
