Oh Google, what part of "opt-in" is so hard for you to understand?

Kash Hill shows you how to lock down the new narcissism stats on your profile so that other people can't see them.
Google just made it much easier to quantify how popular you are.

I don't understand, why is it a problem to have stats? I don't see any sort of security or privacy issue with having that feature light up without user interaction. I get pissy just like the next person about being opt into particular things without my consent, but complaining about a new page counter is about the same as being unhappy about a website changing its background color to me.

This a very interesting turn of events and I'm glad EFF is on point with this. I look forward to your posts about this.

I usually describe the Sagrada Familia as "aliens see a gothic cathedral and attempt to build one of their own." The Sagrada Familia has been under construction in Barcelona for about 150 years. This video shows what it will look like when it's finished.

"In this context, the distinction between governments and criminals has become meaningless: an attacker is an attacker, and every website that wants to protect the privacy and security of its users ought to take note."

Look! Deep within this NYT article, there is a mention to the giant report on Syrian malware Morgan, JSR, and I put out in December.

That is a really bad human. Not the prisoner, but the cop.

"This is like finding out Emily Dickinson once secretly stowed away on a ship bound for England and spent a weekend with Jane Austen at a bed and breakfast, doing it. This is like finding out Ernest Hemingway finally let his guard down one night in Spain and let F. Scott Fitzgerald lean across the table and kiss him. This is like finding out Gwendolyn Brooks lost her virginity to Willa Cather."
