So some of you have already finished Christmas shopping and all I can say is WOW. But for those of you who haven't I wanted to give you a heads up about Fake Shopping Apps. While the Apple Store and Google Play do try and stay on top of these scammers and remove them. They aren't perfect.
So if you are looking to add a shopping app here are two things you can do to help you decide if its a fake or not.
1. Go to the retailer's homepage and download the app from there.
2. If you are in the app store look at who the publisher is. If it doesn't look right don't download.
Some of the apps ask for a lot of permissions and will access your information so be aware and shop smart.

Bad things happen. A client was broken into this past weekend. And they grabbed a laptop as it was easy to steal. Good news not only is all the data backed up but the laptop itself was encrypted. What are you doing to protect your ‪#‎smallbusiness‬ data?

I am pissed off this morning. ‪#‎computerscams‬ Last night we got a call from a client who got taken in by a pop up window on their computer saying that they needed to call immediately or their computer was going to be damaged. She called, gave them her credit card ($500 fee) and gave them access to her computer. They changed her password to get on the computer and very likely scooped all her information etc.
These scams take advantage of those who are not tech savvy and very often are seniors. The number of calls that we are getting is growing. They use fear tactics to intimidate these people. They are bullies and thieves.
Please do not let anyone have access to your computer or banking information when they have solicited you. That means phone calls, emails or pop ups. If you have any doubts don't give out any information. Call someone you trust to get advice.
And for those of us who know of a friend or family member that may be vulnerable to these types of scams, lets remind them of this advice.
It is often very hard for the person who is scammed. They feel vulnerable, stupid and scared. I don't want to get any more calls from someone who has been had.
