Interesting piece. 
Oil and gas companies are taking on more debt to continue drilling, according to the US Energy Information Administration. Companies' revenues are now flattening out, as global oil prices have plateaued.

Introduction
I served as the Africa bureau chief for five years, from 2006 to 2011, and before that was South Asia bureau chief for the Monitor from 2001 to 2006, covering India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Played mandolin in a South African bluegrass band. Married the prettiest woman in India.
