Great burger, quality ingredients, and good fries. Beer prices are a bit ridiculous. Will definitely go back.

I never really got to experience it really. We sat in there for 15 minutes waiting to be served and decided to leave after no one acknowledged that we were there waiting. We decided to come to the new Dog Haus instead.

Since umami took over, this isn't your typical fast food stand anymore. Had a burger, sweet potato fries and Bohemia beer on tap. All were excellent, and the service and atmosphere were perfect. I'll be back!

When Papoo's Hot Dog Show closed their doors, Adam Fleischman and Allen Ravert saw another great location for their Umami Burger empire. Allen is the co-owner of Mexi-Cali, Umami Burger in Studio City and 800 Degrees Pizza in Westwood and Santa Monica. Adam is the creator of Umami Burger. He now has multiple locations in Southern California, San Francisco, Chicago and New York City. Since this beloved location was known for their hot dogs, Fleischman and Ravert have included gourmet dogs to the Umami menu. They also included a new buger, The Show Burger, as a Burbank only speciality. I tried The Show Burger and boy is it good. They take a Umami patty and dress it up with Hak’s bbq sauce, crispy onion rings, bacon lardons and beer cheese. Hak’s bbq sauce is made by Sharone Hakman, the Fox Network’s MasterChef who became a hit on the show when he crafted a bbq sauce with sophisticated flavors, that caused the judges to declare his sauce “a secret weapon.” Beverages at this location include housemade lemonade, Mexican Fanta Orange, Sprite and Coke. The iced green tea is unflavored and refreshing. Try the zero calorie Boylan’s lemon seltzer or Bundaberg ginger beer. They do sell draught beers and bottles of craft beers. White, Red and bubbly wine is served too. We had a couple of the hot dogs garnished with house truffle cheese, roasted tomatoes, and truffle infused port onions. The Cali dog had smushed avocado, roasted tomatoes and carmelized onions. It was delicious. Speaking of dogs photos of Allen Ravert’s two rescues; Lola and Nicky grace the walls. Most of the exterior structure resembles the look Papoo's had since opening in 1949, however inside has been updated with marble floors and wood flooring up on the ceiling. The Ahi Tuna burger is seared lightly on both sides and topped with sprouts, crushed avocado, gingered carrots, wasabi flakes and spiced up with a wasabi tartar. Turkey burger lovers will enjoy the Greenbird with a patty made from Shelton Farms, crushed avocado, green cheese, sprouts, butter lettuce and a dollop of green goddess. Try the fried artisan pickles with a jalapeno ranch dipping sauce and the Umami thin fries with truffle cheese and truffle salt added on top. Or you can make them manly with a beer-cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon and onion strings. The bacon at Umami has notes of whiskey to it.
