This might go a long way to giving badges the credence they could/should have

Interesting development, in beta first.
The Open University (OU) is building on years of knowledge, experience and research into Open Educational Resources (OER) with its release of innovative new free Badged Open Courses (BOCs). These have been developed in response to the needs of informal learners who are seeking access to study ...

This is amazing considering how many people get bested when they've got to make a simple amendment to a PDF

Great tip for Youtube video-shuffling from DI - YouTube downloads your HD videos at 480p, Google Takeout lets you save them to Drive at full HD resolution

Did you know that you can easily save all your YouTube videos to Google Drive
You can download all your YouTube videos in their original format and save the files directly to your Google Drive with the help of Takeout.

The best thing I've seen on the upgraded MOLE test server so far is being able to change all of the dates from one place - it'll save hours (and years of wear on the old clickfinger)

The Blackboard help pages look all clean and updated (see https://help.blackboard.com/en-us/Learn/9.1_SP_14/Instructor/). They've even got a button which lets you 'Click here to create a book containing this page'...

If you've still got google spreadsheets that use old scripts they might need some attention soon...

An update on the migration of older spreadsheets to the new Google Sheets

Back in November 2014, we announced that older spreadsheets (those created prior to Dec 2013, including any subsequent copies) would start being gradually migrated to the new version of Google Sheets for Google Apps domains on the Rapid release track, with Scheduled domains to follow

...Simpler spreadsheets will be upgraded first, while those that use Apps Script and more complex features will be migrated weeks to months later to ensure a seamless transition.

Thought I'd share the 2nd best news of my day so far (the best was leftover cake, no I'm not sharing that)

AutoCrat now runs on form submission!!!

What many of you have been eagerly awaiting has now arrived!  Set up autoCrat to run when a user submits a form.  Check the box under "Advanced Settings" to turn it on.

Big thanks to +Tim Cargan for helping to get this set up.

Happy merging!

I thought it already did that, or at least that's how I've been using it.  Although I am running it on old spreadsheets before "Add-ons" came in.

Following on from discussing webinars (big web-conferences... you know the ones, and if you don't, do google it) at the LT Forum on Friday, it sounded like many of us are interested in running them. However we do not currently have any platform available institution-wide that can cover many of the things we would like to use webinars for.

David Read has been using Adobe Connect (http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/adobeconnect.edu.html) and has found it works really well for the needs of the ELTC - he gave a live demo of it working and it left everyone that attended impressed.

So to drum up some support for looking into Adobe Connect, could you fill out this form asking what you'd like to use webinars for? If you know of anyone else who would be interested do please pass it on.
Drive
Webinar platforms for UoSDuring the recent Learning Technologies Forum we discussed the options we had available for webinars. We have Google Hangouts for 1-15 participants, internal to University of Sheffield with no leader and no need to record (small group collaboration). But there are many other scenarios that fall outside of those criteria in which we would like to be able to use a similar webinar tool. David Read has been using Adobe Connect and has found it works...

CICS are looking to pilot one of 3 options for web conferencing with Connect being one of them - I think hopefully in line with Google Apps - +Chris Daniels  is your man
