I just made a pretty dramatic career change over the summer, and I guess I've been retconned into the millennials bubble, but what I looked for in my new job was good compensation, work life balance, and work that aligned with my new interests.

Day 1

I'm not sure how long it's been since I woke up in this world. My memories are fuzzy, with no names of myself or this land. I learned fast though, that if you want to survive, shelter is key. The nights are dangerous here, though honestly even during the daytime those bloody creeping mounds of greenery are a terror unto themselves. Now every time I hear that sssss I start running. That first concussive blast damn near killed me. Who would create such a creature that would be willing to sacrifice itself just to take someone out?!

I almost broke my neck running from two of them a few days ago, though I've finally made a bow and usually just take them out from a distance. And that...apparently I'm really good with my hands, and can use just about anything as a weapon. Was I some secret service agent? Wait, secret service?! Sounds so familiar, but...Ugh...everything time I think I have things figured out, I end up with more questions.

So it makes sense now that I have a few decent houses setup and have enough sustenance to thrive here that I should start writing down things that I experience. Who knows, maybe it'll jog whatever's going on in my head and I can figure out why I'm here. Though as long as it's been, I wonder if this is my home now...

We'll call this day one. Day one of a journey that I'm making to find something I haven't found yet: a companion. It's lonely here. When you find yourself talking to sheep and cows (and a cow with FUNGUS GROWING ON IT!!), you might be losing it. Though the carrots seemed to grow really fast when I started singing to them...

I provisioned myself out with the bare necessities and have started fully exploring the map I made. I know I'll need a new one soon as I've hit the edge of it a few times and have lost my way, even though I setup a way to track myself on it.

In my first few days I found an empty village...ghost town, really. I found some iron and gold in a chest the blacksmith had, but that was it. Even the garden was mostly wheat, though I scored some carrots (and changed up my diet!). So avoiding that area, I heading south west for a bit. There was a small field of sunflowers, which was a pleasure to behold. There's such a variety of flora here...I've been bringing some back to my houses to brighten things up. It helps, some days.
