Turn 1284

TEXTURIZE

The indicated location is the Rallidae Mountains (-2,6), so I've punched that up a little bit. Added some bonus description to the Map Location Description, as well, to go with the new addition:

The tallest mountain in the range, Eiytrakern, is a towering summit, which is held to be the earthly palace of the sky god. The inaccessibility of the Rallidae Mountains has kept it unknown except among the bird-people. Only recently have outsiders learned of the existence of this massive peak.

+Christopher Weeks is next on the list, and I apologize for it taking me so long to get to this.

Turn 1279

Quick and dirty YAY DOUBLETONS! at (-10,-12) and (-9,-12) [closest location to -9,-10 which the randomizer brought up but already exists]

+Christopher Weeks is still out, I think, so +Victor Andrade, it's to you. Back to work for me.

Something I should have done when i first started using technical pens. Testing different textures and pen sizes. I'd say the last one is probably my favorite.

Not my work, but someone else demonstrating a range of pen weights and various effects.

Expanding the Planetary Display form
Some of you may be familiar with the Planetary Display Form, which has generally been the most popular item of mine on DriveThruRPG. Briefly, it is a one-page layout for mapping a planet’s surface on a flattened truncated icosahedron, the same geometric…

+Thor Hansen is one of my best friends, and a frequent collaborator on game projects. So buy his stuff and spread the word!
So, I opened a booth at the Maumee Antique mall. If you are in the area please stop by. Currently mostly games and game books. But there will be more coming.

Turn 1275

TOKEN DRAIN and WILD CARD

So 5 tokens go away; and then I'm going to add a new action, because I just had a thought. So here's a new action:

MAKING STONE SOUP

Choose an action that requires several elements or the creation of a list. (Examples include Word Up; Random Encounter Table; Fauna & Flora; etc., but not map editing actions.)

All players must provide one entry/item for the list within 3 days; or a player may forfeit 2 Choice tokens to pass on participating. Every player who participates gains 3 Choice tokens, and the player who selected this action gains 2 Choice tokens plus 1 additional token for each player who participates in the Action.

All elements created by other players are sent to the initiating player who compiles them together, adds their own element(s), and then places the information in the appropriate document.

And +Christopher Weeks is up

This project didn't quite get its momentum on the first pass, and there were a number of reasons for that, and for my comparative lack of energy to push to get people more involved and to get sections completed.

So, to whet everyone's appetite and to get things moving again, here is the ECD-5 Overland Map. Let's call this the first state, and note the contributions from +Patrick Usher, +Andrew Durston, +Scott Aleric, +Tony Obert, and myself in this version. This is just a rough draft of the final. Some editing and cleanup is still needed, but you have a pretty good sense of where it's going, and the rest of you can see what you're missing out on.

This ought to be extended further. There were a number of people interested in the project, and there's obviously still available room. And if you know other map-making folk who might be interested, please spread the word.

If you're interested in participating, drop me a line and we'll get you set up. And those of you who already did a section and who wanted to do more should let me know, too. You can be the buffers between what was already done and the new sections.

There is quite a collection of procedural map generators within this twitter thread. Definitely a rabbit-hole if you delve too deeply, with no bottom to be found.
This link is a Twitter thread with a whole lot of procedural map generation sites/sources as compiled by Jason Grinblat. There are all kinds of wonderful things in there for all my map-loving compatriots: overland maps, continents, ASCII maps, atlas maps, city maps, dungeon maps. It's a trove of goodness.
