[ #Outdoors ] Last August +Mike Pearce and I hiked Selby Trail in Tilden Regional Park.

We started at the Lawrence Hall of Science. After enjoying the incredible view of the Bay, we climbed up towards Tilden Regional Park. We then follow Selby Trail, a relatively easy trail that crosses the entire park along the Western ridge. The trail is level and full of shade. After a short stop at Lake Anza we continued toward the Little Farm.

Length: 4 miles
Difficulty: easy
Notes: Accessible using public transportation (AC transit 67 and 65)

PSA: New Trail Opening, New Trail Opening Ceremony

It's not exactly a photowalk, but this Saturday I'll be at the opening ceremony for five new miles of trail in Sierra Vista, an open-space preserve next to Alum Rock in San Jose. After the ceremony, the only way to access the preserve (for now) will be by hiking up an annoyingly steep, hot trail in Alum Rock -- so this is a great opportunity. I'll be hiking the new trail with my camera in hand afterwards, and even though it hasn't exactly been widely publicized, the event is open to everyone.

The last few Ridge Trail opening ceremonies I attended were along Coyote Creek, which isn't even close to a ridge, so it'll be nice to be back up in the hills and get a good workout on the new section.

See you there!
