There are few places which serve decent food but have a great location. Burger bar falls into that category. Located in the heart of downtown San Fran, this spot is on the higher floor of the building which houses Macy's. I opted to get the table right by the glass and the view was awesome. Now coming to the food I had the Atlantic salmon burger with chocolate shake. The burger and shake were just OK. I would come here for the view rather than food.

It's a bit rowdy and tight in here, but hey it's in the Union Square area so it's packed with locals and tourists, understandable. We came here before the foie gras ban, we just had to try the Rossini burger. If and when you have the chance to try it (say in Vegas or something.... or when the ban in lifted), it's a must try... sorry vegetarians you're gonna hate me, but more meat and livers for me! The Rossini burger was so over the top yet worth every morsel, I wish I would've licked the plate too. It was a steep $60 but OMG, I wish I had deep deep pockets that day. Service was slow, but every time I was saying something bad about the waitress about how slow she was, she would appear, hm what did I do to deserve this karma. Maybe I should've started my comments earlier so she would show up faster. Dessert..uh um... let's just say they should just stick to making burgers.

The burger was was one of the most unique and delicious burgers I've ever had. I had the Le Frog burger, and it was a mix of unique items and juicy meat. The fries were just ok, nothing special. The milkshake was amazing, both in flavor and presentation. I sat at the bar, and the service was not very good at all. Perhaps it is better when you are seated at a table?

DON'T GO HERE!! We were in San Francisco for the weekend and stayed at a hotel which is within walking distance to Burger Bar. After a long day one Sunday evening, we decided to get carryout for dinner and take it back to the hotel. It was around 7:30pm when I got to Burger Bar to place my order for a burger cooked medium and they were not that busy. It took them about 40 minutes to make my burger. By the time I got back to our hotel room and sat down to eat, I noticed that the bottom bun was completely pink from all of the blood that came from the burger which was cooked rare, at best. Exhausted and I frustrated I called back to request a refund on my card for the burger that was thrown in the trash, by this time it was about 9:00pm. They offered to make me a new one if I went back, but given the time I declined as I did not want to eat that late. The Asst Manager informed me that all of their burgers are under cooked, so if you want it medium, you have to order it well done. Needless to say, the bartender never bothered to mention this when I placed my order. He also said that he couldn't refund my money that I had to speak with the Manager on Monday and he left a message. Long story short, I had to call the Manager as he didn't bother calling me and he gave me some BS line about having to call his IT regarding the refund. It was clear that he was blowing me off. I have not heard from him since, so I essentially wasted my time and TWENTY dollars on a grossly undercooked burger. I would NOT recommend supporting this establishment.

Wow, could this place suck any more than it does? Stay far far away unless you are a tourist with no discerning pallete. Moderate at best milk shake, soggy, stale and bland "spiced" curly fries, burger was ok. To top it off bad service and the most soul annihilating music selection I have ever been forced to endure. It's my own fault for eating in a place located in a mall under the cheesecake factory. $4 nasty fries...

A little overrated. The burgers are just okay but I do like their fun, fancy toppings. The french fries and onion rings are decent. The milkshakes are awesome and you should definitely try the nutella one.
