On behalf of all the member artists, please join me in congratulating ALFEW coordinator and founder Louise Peacock, who is being awarded "Special Recognition" by Heritage Mississauga!

Here is the announcement:

Each year Heritage Mississauga Foundation gives recognition awards
to honour those in the community who have made significant contributions
to the preservation and conservation of heritage in Mississauga.

The Board of Directors is pleased to inform you, that they have
chosen you to receive a "Special Recognition" Award.

The Awards ceremony will be held Thursday February 23rd at the Maja
Prentice Theatre, Burnhamthorpe Library, 3650 Dixie Road, commencing
at 7:00pm. Opening reception will begin at 6:00pm.

Tickets are $25.00 and can be obtained from:

ALFEW Artist: Nisreen Askar

+Nisreen Art is an experienced multi-media artist who studied fine arts at Sheridan College and has taught art in the Middle East. Nisreen resides in Mississauga, Ontario.

Artist Profile: John Carvalho


John is a freelance photographer who grew up always around cameras. It has become his passion.

John has done a lot of work for the City of Mississauga. He has provided photos for a Tourism Brochure to discover Mississauga; photos for a builder on Mississauga Road for display and photos used by Mississauga News.

For the last two years John as been the official photographer for the Port Credit Terry Fox Run, which is so close to his heart.

More recently, John's work was displayed at Visual Arts Mississauga Centre at Riverwood during December.

John has also done work for Toronto, he was invited by a Toronto School to be the official photographer for Toronto's Torch Relay where 27 children were selected from 4 schools in Toronto to be flag bearers.
