news of safety, health and corporate conduct
Introduction
FairWarning is an online, nonprofit publication that seeks to provide robust, public interest journalism on issues of health, safety and corporate conduct. Our mission is to arm consumers and workers with valuable information, and to spotlight reckless business practices and lax oversight by government agencies. We do this by producing original investigations on issues of vital importance, while offering a wide sweep of judicial opinions, legal and regulatory news, and reports from think tanks, advocacy groups and academic and professional journals.

With the size and budgets of many newsrooms in free fall, the watchdog role of traditional media is eroding. But even in good times, few news outlets gave priority to health and safety investigations — despite the potential to save readers and audiences from devastating injury or death. In today’s hollowed out newsrooms, even fewer reporters have the resources to tackle these complex and time-intensive stories.

Yet the need for hard-hitting coverage of these subjects is more acute than ever. FairWarning strives to provide this coverage as a non-partisan, non-ideological public service. We distribute our stories as widely as possible through social media and by collaborating with news organizations across the country. Based in Los Angeles, FairWarning was established in 2009.
