large restaurant floor good energy, not rushed and very loungey with great service strong menu, but I'd go for the laid back but fun scene a place for vegans and non-vegans to both be happy

The menu is great! I wanted to try everything. On my first trip, I had the buffalo cauliflower and the Pig Newton pizza. Both were excellent. The beer and cocktail menus are also very impressive. I tried the seasonal cocktail in November, which featured horchata-infused vodka and Stumptown cold brew. It was really good.

I always have a good time here. It's my go-to when I'm hungry & have time to kill in Silverlake. They usually play great music (lots of Bowie and Pixies) & they have delicious drinks. The bill can get pretty pricey but I've never had a meal there I didn't enjoy. They have great options for veggies, try the buffalo cauliflower! I had a super last minute surprise birthday dinner for my boyfriend here & the staff was super accommodating.

Pretty cool place to hang out, grab a beer, and relax. I'd recommend sitting all the way at the back of the restaurant - it has a cool vibe and you feel like you're outdoors. I did not try a lot of the food except for the buffalo cauliflower but that was really good.

Mohawk Bend is located inside a former theater which makes the location rather interesting for what is essentially gastropub. The food is excellent and caters to both vegans and omnivores alike with items such as Dates stuffed with chorizo and bacon or a Vegan version of fish and chips. Yup you just read that correctly it is called fried avocado and chips that is really delicious. Along with a wide variety of local craft beers for just about anyone's palette dark, nutty, light, amber or golden your sure to fine something for your mouth and belly. The dinning experience is really good as you can get intimate sitting or for a more loud party like affair sit at the bar. Great ambience music over all a fun and tasty place. Definitely coming back for more...

went for lunch today we were 1 of 6 tables that had patrons it took over a half and hour to get the Buffalo Cauliflower a fish and chips and a burger The burger was small overcooked and under seasoned the mushroom soup tasted of grit the fish and chips was also overcooked and bland . Oh and $41 seemed a bit steep considering no alcohol or other beverages were drank Not sure I want to go back after today

This place is as fascinating as the name is intriguing. There were several factors that led me to this place, 1- they were participating in DineLA (3-courses for $15) , 2 - they used to be a theatre (I love a restaurant with abnormal histories), and 3- they offered vegan and vegetarian friendly menu options. More than enough reasons to check it out. Atmosphere: Great atmosphere! The fam and I sat in the back room and I was immediately in love! Nice high ceilings, brick textured walls, HUGE artistic fireplace. For being such a huge space it surely felt comforting. Also they got a major one star for the seating. Not your typical chairs here, nope low back plush seating. Very cozy! Dine LA Food: Appetizer - Squash Chowder: roasted squash, coconut milk, Fresno chili, red onion, pepitas, basil and mint. Verdict: POSSIBLY the BEST chowder I've tasted. HUGE fan. Not only was it rich and velvety and texture, it also contained a very diverse flavor profile. It was a tad sweet, a tad spicy, warm and buttery, but also herbaceous. Totally unique! The best dish of the evening with flawless presentation. Entrée's - (Me and my mom split the two) "Crab Cake" Sliders: hearts of palm, cabbage, sprouts, pickled carrot, and jalapeno siracha aioli served with sesame salted potato chips. Verdit: Loved the mini-ness of the meal. It visually tickled me. They were soooo cute and little on the serving board. I wasn't the BIGGEST fan of the "crab cake" patty but it was a swell imitation. SInce it was vegan I will give it some sort of pass. It could of been a little bit crispier as it was just soft goo on bread. It paired well with the spicy jalapeño siracha aioli. My mom unknowingly slathered her small slider with lots of it and got an unpleasant burning sensation in her mouth. One dollop was MORE than enough to give the slider an extra kick. BBQ Tofu Pizza- red onions, Serrano peppers and topped with arugula. Verdict: I actually preferred the pizza over the sliders. I'm a huge fan of BBQ Chicken but since going vegetarian I can no longer indulge in its goodness. This BBQ Tofu Pizza was the PERFECT substitute. The tofu mimicked the chicken superbly. Nicely textured and flavored with the bbq sauce. Overall great pizza. Dessert - Pineapple Upside Down Cake- coconut gelato, pineapple kiwi, hazelnut coconut tuilles. Verdict: LOVED IT. Not a huge fan of hazelnut but it somehow went with the whole dessert. The cake itself with a bit tough at top BUT i actually liked the texture when i mixed it with the gelato. The pineapples throughout were juicy and delish. Side-notes: 1. Went for lunch and although the AVO+Chips aren't on the DineLA menu I wanted to try them because they seem to be a hit. -_- NO AVO CHIPS DURING LUNCH. HOW RUDE. Didn't get to try them so must come back for dinner. 2. Service was a bit slow for my eager family's liking. We had a pretty big party and had lots of changes with drinks and substitution and add ons YES I KNOW ITS ALOT. But thats why gratuity is automatically added on. SO don't skimp on the service because you get an AUTO tip. Our server was less than attentive for a large party. NICE yes but not attentive. (it wasn't even crowded) 3. PORTION SIZE. I have a family that LOVES to it. They get all goggly eyes for large portions. This place is not for you if your looking for Bang for your buck. The food is good trust me, but its not large in portion. Most of the other diners did not participate in DineLA and weren't satisfied with the size of their meals. In fact my brother went for AYCE sushi 2 hours after we left this place. For me I loved the courses and was pretty satisfied. The regular menu is smaller for those whom wish to literally bite off more than they can chew.
