The stock market charged through the 20,000 mark on the Dow Jones Industrial Average in January, and eventually made it past 21,000 in late February. This move has continued to raise valuations of the overall stock market. Currently, the Shiller PE ratio (one measurement of stock valuations), is recording the third-highest valuation in US history. Our year-end market analysis finds the “Trump Trade" (as it is being referred to on Wall Street) continues to drive stock markets higher. Historically, the period between November 15th and January 15th is a good time to own stocks for investors. Our post-election financial markets analysis shows that this week the Dow moved back to the upper range in which the stock market has been stuck for over 18 months. This result comes after trading down overnight Tuesday by as much as 800 points as each state tallied its votes for the Presidential candidates. Do the Presidential election results change the overall state of the US stock market? Overall, I really don't think so, at least in the short term. I am sure by now everyone knows that Donald Trump appears to be going into the November election as the Republican nominee. I am also sure that the title of this blog release causes some form of reaction in you.
