The brightest minds devoted to this Artificial Intelligence are predicting the end of human intellectual supremacy by midcentury. That should be enough to give everyone pause.

Recently, the Feynman lectures were put online for free, but how much do you know about Feynman himself?

Learn more about him here: http://www.fromquarkstoquasars.com/?p=3812

(To see more about the lectures, see: http://www.fromquarkstoquasars.com/?p=28473 )

When we launched Google+ over three years ago, we had a lot of restrictions on what name you could use on your profile. This helped create a community made up of real people, but it also excluded a number of people who wanted to be part of it without using their real names.

Over the years, as Google+ grew and its community became established, we steadily opened up this policy, from allowing +Page owners to use any name of their choosing to letting YouTube users bring their usernames into Google+. Today, we are taking the last step: there are no more restrictions on what name you can use.

We know you've been calling for this change for a while. We know that our names policy has been unclear, and this has led to some unnecessarily difficult experiences for some of our users. For this we apologize, and we hope that today's change is a step toward making Google+ the welcoming and inclusive place that we want it to be. Thank you for expressing your opinions so passionately, and thanks for continuing to make Google+ the thoughtful community that it is.

A new study has found a positive association between the amounts of time spent playing video games and thickness of certain areas of the brain. The results, which have been published in the journal PLOS ONE, may therefore represent a biological reason for the improvements in cognition which have been previously found to occur with video gaming.

ESA’s Rosetta mission has soft-landed its Philae probe on a comet, the first time in history that such an extraordinary feat has been achieved.

Robots are poised to eliminate millions of jobs over the coming decades. We have to address the coming epidemic of "technological unemployment" if we're to avoid crippling levels of poverty and societal collapse. Here's how a guaranteed basic income will help — and why it's absolutely inevitable.

The lectures of Nobel Prize winning physicist Richard Feynman were legendary. Footage of these lectures does exist, but they are most famously preserved in The Feynman Lectures. The three-volume set may be the most popular collection of physics books ever written, and now you can access it online, in its entirety, for free.

Paul McGann has revealed that he has actually signed a petition for an Eighth Doctor spin-off.

On a panel at Comicpalooza, McGann said: “I signed it! But keep it under your fez.” It’s a bit late for that!

“Of course I would do it,” he continued. “Should anything like that ever happen again, I can only assume it would happen like it did last year – there’d be a call saying ‘could you start on Monday?’”

He added: “The thing is, I’m warmed up now. I could do it now. When we got to shoot ‘The Night of the Doctor’ I was so glad for the audience. I got to keep my hand in, so to speak, because I felt like I knew what I was doing.”

“The second I put the kit on, I  felt like the Doctor.”
