Integrated, optimal design has been my passion and day job for 33 years. My specialty is complex, deep green integrated "systems of systems” for water, wastewater, energy, shelter, human powered transport, financial sustainability, etc.
With a healthy level of lifestyle accommodation, I believe a 90 percent reduction in per capita negative impact is possible through integrated, optimal design.
I take a serious, engineer’s eye to developing simple, mostly DIY solutions that really work long term, all of which we’ve published unpatented into the public domain.
The designs on our 500 page web site and top selling books have helped hundreds of thousands of people live better with less use of resources. Some designs have propagated as best practices worldwide, been accommodated in building codes, given government rebates, etc.
The past several years I’ve dedicated approximately a thousand hour a year to public interest research and activism.
When I’m not working, I love dance and aerobic nature play.
