Here's my pretty little Domestic, +Stephanie Garza - it's been seeing a fair bit of use lately so I leave it set up down in the basement where it's nice and cool. It's in a cabinet that my late FiL found put out for trash, and he modified it for this "portable" machine (ha! portable my arse!) It is an absolute workhorse, sews everything from leather on down.

A swarm of honey bees seeking a new home landed in one of our shrubs yesterday evening! So I called our local bee rescue hotline & George The Beekeeper came out to rehome them in Langstroth hive. It'll remain in our front yard until dusk tonight, to give any stray girls a chance to re-join their queen... then George will return & take them out to the research yard at Niagara Beeway. So, just for today, I'm hosting bees :)

In other news, having a dude in a blindingly white bee suit stomping around in your front yard at 11pm certainly does cement the notion amongst your neighbours that you are the weird people on the block.

Just ran a major upgrade on my website test clone... and nothing broke. THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. Something must be broken. Something sneaky and catastrophic. There is no way this could have gone perfectly right the first time.

This is how I like to find wheels in the wild - filthy, disgusting, & cheap. A double-flyer wheel marked A.Lewis; sadly, missing one flyer, but I can't spin with  2 anyway ;)

I really hope LeVar has a chance to make this so.

Nice texture!

Gorgeous Summer Breeze Scarf and great details on how you can double the sett of a rigid-heddle loom by using two heddles. http://www.weavezine.com/summer2008/wz_su08_JanePatrick.php

Off to Christie Lake for the first big antique show of the season. I've had good luck in years past finding wheels in the wild there... except for last year, in which there were none to be had. Hoping for better hunting this year.

The DDoS & extortion attempt that started yesterday is still ongoing with Feedly. I like Feedly, but I'm glad I still have an alternative RSS client installed so I don't depend on cloud services for my recommended daily allowance of economic theory, feminist issues, and funny cat pictures.

The "news" is so depressing that I appreciate a break from it.

The ortho guy says Himself's ankle screw will have to come out and a big bone spur removed... so I'll be ripping up my schedule for June and playing nurse again. Hopefully this will take care of the nagging issues from the last surgery; he's like a bear with a thorn in his paw. Me, I just hope he won't have to spend a second summer on crutches.

He's going to feel so much better when that screw is gone.

Oh gosh +Brenda Hoffman , I wouldn't even begin to guess what sort of yarn - maybe mop cotton? 3 strands of worsted? Hmmm... wait, how about fabric strips? I could knit a rug in an hour!

In which Stross tells some ugly truths from the writer's point of view.

The people doing most of the arguing in the comments made it sound as if using an Amazon or someone else's app to read a book were mutually exclusive. Just as I've many wordprocessors, one can have many book readers. I'd guess that I have 5 or 6 book readers on my iPad Air.
