Actually, no, not quite
the first album to have any keyboard at all was 2112, and it was played by Hugh Syme, just on one song, according to credits. Geddy learned the mini moog just prior to the AFTK recording sessions, as I understand. He wasn't previously a keyboardist. As for better, best, worst material --- everybody has their opinion. Some people love the 80's material, and hate the 90's stuff, or the material from the last 15 years. How could any band with such a huge catalog, that does something different with every release, please everybody? I knew a guy in high school who had been a fan pre-Moving Pictures, and was very disappointed by it. The only song he really liked was Witch Hunt. And Signals was a similar experience for me.-- until I grasped better what it is that they do.
