Awesome ride! We are proud of you!

Our own Marina Fonseca (c/o '25) put on a good show at the 41st Haleiwa Menehune Surfing Contest (the World Championship competition for kids) this past Saturday (October 21st) at Ali'i Beach Park of Oahu's North Shore. Although she missed the advancement on the second round, she finished 10th among 32 competitors from all over the Islands on the 10 to 12 shortboard division. Marina was the former champion of this event, winning it in 2015 (Longboard Division). She will be back next year. . .

Congratulations to MBTA Class of 2017 graduate Kukahi Lee for winning a Na Hoku Hanohano award for Alternative Album of the year!

Not many people can say they won a Na Hoku Hanohano award and graduate from high school all in 1 week!

Here's a video of Kukahi's reaction when his name was called: https://youtu.be/P_EjB5deMJM

Congratulations to the MBTA chorus class for their beautiful concert through the Hawaii Opera Theatre vocal explorations program. Reina Takahara, Kira Gatiuan, Jayde Addison, Sienna Holbrook, and Emma Eckfeldt each performed an Italian piece, later revisted with original English words to complement their Italian tunes. (Although Chloe Fagan was unable to attend the performance, she worked on similar pieces in the class.) Fantastic job to all the ladies and the hard work for this culminating performance.

Reina Takahara on Stage at Blue Note in Waikiki!

Reina's dad shared us this message:

I wanted to share this with you. Reina was spotted at a recent performance for HPD's fundraising gala by a Blue Note representative and invited to perform as a Special Guest vocalist on April 26th. Blue Note is a famous Jazz and R&B nightclub with locations in NYC, Tokyo, Beijing, and Napa Valley. Reina might be the youngest ever to perform there. It is quite an honor. The show is titled Hawaii's Young Female Artists and will feature EMKE ( 80's rock cover band), Honoka and Azita ( popular ukulele duo) and others. Reina is the only non professional artist so she's only singing two songs ( pop and broadway song).
