It was a Hamburger Hoopla!! Q&D team members from the field and office came together to enjoy a great meal all for charity. The Hoopla team served freshly cooked burgers and homemade yummy side dishes brought in by Q&Ders. In total we raised $1005 for Achieve Tahoe and Circle of Life Hospice! Way to go!

We like to say, “You are only as good as your partner.” How about these partners? The teams from two projects that included Q&D won trophies at the International Partnering Institute (IPI) Awards this year: the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport New Terminal team and the Caltrans Cold Plane and Place Polyester Concrete Inlay and Hot Mix Asphalt team. The clients, designers, and consultants all made great partners – we’ve enjoyed partnering them. The formal partnering promoted by the IPI helps teams focus together in a concerted effort to reduce project costs, eliminate change orders, and improve communication. We develop mutually agreed upon project and partnership success goals and monitor the achievement of these goals for the duration of the project. Congratulations to all and to the other winning project teams!

Congratulations City of Sparks on the completion of your North Truckee Drain Realignment project! The realignment is part of a joint plan between multiple agencies and cities to reduce flooding in the Truckee Meadows. This project, targeted at reducing flows in the Sparks Industrial Area, uses a series of underground concrete culvert boxes to transport water from the North Truckee Drain to the Truckee River. Q&D Construction was the contractor on all three phases of this project. We make a great team with City of Sparks, Nevada Government and HDR!

Project team members and 100 Washoe County kids made the groundbreaking of Nick Poulakidas Elementary School extra special! Set to open in Fall 2019, this two-story state-of-the-art building will help relieve overcrowding at other nearby schools. Congrats Washoe County School District on your huge accomplishment!

We had so much fun celebrating Melissa Taylor and all of the honorees today at Nevada Women's Fund's Salute to Women of Achievement event. Q&D partnered with LP Insurance Services, Western Nevada Supply, Sierra Nevada Construction, and Cashman Equipment to underwrite the luncheon’s engaging and inspirational speaker and fighter pilot Heather “Lucky” Penney. We are glad to have had the opportunity to recognize exemplary women in our community and their accomplishments that have enriched our region.

We are excited to nominate Melissa Taylor, the Executive Director for Reno Little Theater, as our honoree this year for Nevada Women’s Fund’s Salute to Women of Achievement Luncheon. Melissa’s leadership has provided tremendous growth to RLT over the last four years. In addition to her role as Executive Director she directs and occasionally performs in a production each season. She is also passionate about fostering relationships with STEP2, Renown Children’s Hospital, and developing new programming such as Latin Theater Series, ACT OUT youth program, and Sunday Jazz with KUNR. We look forward to celebrating all of the successful women honorees tomorrow!
