**AVAILABLE IN BOTH DALLAS AND FLORENCE THIS WEEKEND** during regular hours...
We have a Special Sale of Second Label wines!

As many of you know, our winemaker, Dan Gatlin, does some contract work for other wineries apart from Inwood Estates.  One winery, Mendelbaum Cellars, contracted with him to select and blend 3 reds which sell for $19.95 per bottle.   Due to a production overrun, we are making a limited amount of these wines available for $99 per case this weekend ($8.25 per bottle case price).

They include:
1) a Tempranillo-Zinfandel blend with red, cherry-berry flavors
2) a Cabernet-Merlot blend, Bordeaux style
3) a Syrah-Petite Sirah blend with black, plum flavors

Winemaker Dan Gatlin says:
" Ever notice how all the supermarket wines taste the same, just with different fancy artwork? That's because they are "factory wines", made in giant tanks to the same specs.  These wines are not factory wines.  They are of excellent quality, with most selected from small wineries with overruns and remnants which have been in oak barrels.  That makes each one unique.  It is rare to buy everyday-drinking wines with this level of individuality at everyday-drinking prices ."

 *$99 per Case = $8.25 per bottle*

MIX AND MATCH or $14.95 per bottle if less than case quantity.

We'll see you this weekend!

 *CHEERS!*

Got a great review from some special guests who visited our tasting room!

"We had a great time talking wines with Marc – he was super nice and knowledgeable. We bought a couple of bottles – never had the Magellan but it was so good we had to have one.

Here’s wishing you all a safe and Happy New Year!"

Review of Inwood Estates Vineyards 2006 Magellan
by +Kinsey Moberg

From Inwoodwines.com:
"The 2006 "Magellan" exhibits authentic Bordeaux character with earthy aromas of "forest-floor" -and cedar, the faintly evergreen back-drop for the complex dark-fruit mixture that is generated by the blend of traditional varieties.

This is an investment-grade wine that will live and improve for decades. It is very tannic and very rich in anti-oxidants, and will change year after year as it slowly unveils its layers of complexity."

~~

This is one of those wines that seduces you. As you pour it you notice the dark red/purple coloring and the aroma just fills the room. The Magellan is very black-fruit forward with notes of plum, strawberry, and a violet nose. Like all Inwood red wines, it is mildly acidic but very full-bodied and tannic. The earthy tones get tangy due to the spiciness, and the oak rounds everything out. It has a very smooth finish with an earthy aftertaste. It is very dry, well-balanced and grounded. Retail price $59.50

The best thing about the Magellan is that it has heart, and the craftsmanship of Winemaker Dan Gatlin shines through in every sip. The authenticity of Inwood wines is one of the many reasons why I feel so fortunate to be able to work with this winery and be a part of the production. This is a truly excellent Texas wine with a distinctly Texas soul.

2009 "Magdalena" (Margaux-Style Bordeaux Blend plus Tempranillo) - $49.50
In contrast to the Inwood Magellan which is a tannic, Pauillac-style Bordeaux Blend, the Magdalena emulates the more nuanced Margaux style. While still expressing Texas' high-mineral terroir, this wine displays the finer perfumes of Cabernet Sauvignon with an emphasis on finesse and elegance. Magdalena is a great complement to, and in fact, a "sister" wine to Magellan. While Magellan is big and brawny, it is anything but subtle and nuanced. Therefore the Magdalena is the perfect juxtaposition, with its alluring perfume and seductive beauty, it is a "pretty" wine in a softer body. The final blend was composed of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance being the same traditional varieties as in Magellan: Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The Inwood tradition of including a small amount of Tempranillo with our Bordeaux blends was maintained at a rather slight 2%.

Check out the latest review by Andrew Chalk for Inwood's 09 Tempranillo-Cabernet blend!

"In summary: Serve this to your wine-loving friends and ask them where they think it is from. They will probably guess California because that is the style of this wine. But it is 100% Texas and the kind of wine you should serve to doubters to who need to witness the continued progress in Texas wine making."

Story
In 1981, Dan Gatlin planted one of the first commercial grape vineyards in Texas. It was one of the most research oriented plantings at the time including 22 European vinifera varieties. After extensive collection of growth and chemistry data, Mr. Gatlin determined that grapes native to Spain were best suited for producing World-Class wines in Texas.

We currently have 2 winery locations:
