WYFF News 4 Today anchor
Introduction

Beth Brotherton joined WYFF News 4 in December 2000 as a general assignment reporter, but soon became one of the lead reporters on the education and political beats.

In May 2004 she was promoted to anchor and can currently be seen with co-worker Geoff Hart each weekday on WYFF News 4 Today beginning at 4:30am. Beth also continues reporting and says her weekly Golden Apple segments -- featuring local teachers -- is one of her favorite assignments.

As the child of a missionary, Beth grew up in Lusaka, Zambia in Southern Africa. Magazines like Newsweek and Time were her family’s lifeline to the world. She became addicted to current events and, after surviving cholera epidemics and coup attempts, learned the importance of news and information.

Beth moved back to the United States during her high school years and began working as a teleprompter and camera operator at WICD-TV in Champaign, Ill.

She continued to work at the station while she attended the University of Illinois. Beth received her degree in Broadcast Journalism and, before graduation, became an on-air reporter.

Before joining WYFF News 4, Beth worked at WMBD-TV in Peoria, Ill., as a reporter and weekend anchor. Her focus at WYFF News 4 is on education and politics and she's won more than a dozen state and regional awards for her reporting, including two 2010 awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas for Feature Reporting and Education Reporting.

Beth and her husband Joe are the proud parents of three young sons.
