Only 1 tower of the original castle is left. The only cool thing about the tower is how old it is. The rest had been rebuilt. There is a lot of interesting history behind it if you take a tour. Look up the free walking tour. We had Patrick and he was great.

Very informative tour guide, WiFi goes in and out throughout the tour which can be frustrating if your wanting to write reviews or Instagram some photos of the day. Its fun going and seeing the old ruins. Definitely do the guided tour too!

One of several sites within walking distance in Dublin. The round courtyard area just looks like someone did donuts to mess it up. A few good picture opportunities as you go around it.

Now this piece of history is very interesting and well worth the efforts. You should take the guided tour (leaves every 20 min) as the self guided tour does not allow all areas. The only thing could be better is a more detailed explanation about the history (in chronological order or chart) - Ireland is full of different times and this castle has many of it, shame you need to collect it your own.

Beautiful and historic, the castle should be near the top of anyone’s list for touring Dublin city. The architecture is astounding and very imposing. Make sure to explore the courtyard for more modern architecture that feels a bit more like a palace. There are also two museums here as well as a cafe. Now the Irish government owns the building and uses it for some meetings and visits still.

It's well worth a visit if you get the time in Dublin. It's a beautiful place but maybe not the most entertaining.. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Good for a short trip from the nearby popular Temple Bar area.

I took the tour as I wanted to appreciate this castle gem. Our guide was not only well versed in her subject, but funny and able to answer all questions in great detail. Easily one of my favorite "tourist" experiences.I had I great time here. Learning about the early history of the castle was interesting, and seeing the different staterooms was well worth it. Many sections of the castle no longer remain, but they have pictures and illustrations to give visitors a good sense of what it would have looked like at the time. Enjoy. *****

Nice little trip when in Dublin, cheap to have a look around although it doesn't take very long - maybe 30 minutes. Some stunning things to look at however and nice views across the courtyard.
